Avatar 4: Sam Worthington Teases James Cameron’s Sequel Will Dwarf Every Previous Movie as Actor Confirms Filming

The Avatar film series is one of the highest-grossing films created by one of the world’s finest director, James Cameron. The director has planned a total of five films, of which two have already become massive hits and the remaining are on their way. Sam Worthington, who is one of the leading cast members, recently shared that Avatar 4 is going to be bigger than we can ever imagine.
Sam Worthington Shares Insights on Avatar 4
The Na’vi are returning to fight for Pandora after being colonized by the human exploiters. What’s even more fascinating to note is that Sam Worthington promises an experience like never before! The actor has shared insights on James Cameron‘s third and fourth installments stating that they have filmed the live-action scenes for Avatar 4 as they plan to initiate the production in February.
While speaking to People at the Lift Netflix premiere held at Lincoln Center in New York City, Sam Worthington talked about the upcoming films and their production and stated that:
“We go back to work on it in a month and it’s big. It’s bigger than you can imagine.”
While Avatar 3 is “right on track”, the fourth installment’s live-action scenes were filmed alongside The Way of Water to ensure the continuity among characters in terms of their age. Worthington shed that the time jump in the story is a significant element in Avatar films and to create an enormous project, they have filmed the vital scenes. Cameron told People that:
“We did the [motion] capture on three and the live-action photography on three as an intermingled production with [‘Avatar: The Way of Water’], and we even did part of movie four because our young characters are all going to have a big time jump in movie four.”
As Avatar 4 is set for its production next month, Worthington also revealed that they might require the cast for the third movie’s post-production before they initiate with the fourth movie. Fans will be able to witness Avatar 3 in 2025, while the fourth entry is set for a release in 2029.

Before Sam Worthington excited fans about the upcoming epic saga to be witnessed by fans, James Cameron shared some insights on the film’s production and what sets the next film apart from the previous two movies. Avatar 3 will also feature a whole new Na’vi fire tribe. While talking about the project and the director’s take on it, Cameron told GQ that:
“The big [creative] advance in [‘Avatar 3’] is just going to be greater character depth. We’re seeing new cultures, new creatures — all the same stuff you’d expect from an ‘Avatar’ movie, but the whole idea of this cycle of films is to live with these people and go on this epic journey with them.”
According to the director, Avatar 3 will introduce more complex and thrilling characters among the ash people of Pandora. He also added:
“This is a journey over time. It will play out through movie three, into movie four, and movie five. There’s an epic cycle to the whole thing.”
The third movie will likely serve as a significant entry in the film series, considering that it will have more advanced digital effects and an expanded franchise tradition. The cast of Avatar 3 includes actors from the last film with new ones, including David Thewlis who’s claimed to be playing an unnamed Na’vi character.
