Avengers: Endgame Directors Explain Thor’s Transformation In The Film
While many of the Avengers changed significantly after the snap by Thanos, one of the most surprising transformation came in Avengers: Endgame to the God of Thunder, Thor. Five years after the snap, Thor can be seen wearing a huge beer belly, unkept beard and appears to have been inside his home since weeks. He blamed himself for not killing Thanos earlier, and has since been in Great Depression, seeking peace in video games and alcohol.

The humour of Thor: Ragnarok by Taika Waititi had a huge influence on the character in Endgame, as explained by Joe Russo who recently told Hollywood Reporter that, “We had already crafted our own version of that character and then we found a way to integrate the level of humor that he [Waititi] was going to be playing with, but pulled it into the psychological realism that we like to filter everything through.”
However, Chris Hemsworth agreed for the transformation.
“We talked to him early on about it,” Anthony Russo said. “That was born from us just thinking about, on an individual level, how each of the Avengers were moving forward from the moment at the end of Infinity War.”
