Barbie Star Ryan Gosling’s Viral ‘I’m just Ken’ BTS Video is the Morning Motivation Everyone Needs
The entire world has been in Barbie fever for the last couple of weeks and it doesn’t seem to be going down any time soon. From the ensemble cast that features Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Emma Mackey, and Michael Cera to Barbie and Ken’s self-discovery journey that lands the duo in an existential crisis, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has everything and more.
Barbie‘s exquisite soundtrack features songs from some of the most famous artists such as Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, Lizzo, Sam Smith, Ava Max, and many others also has an iconic song called I’m Just Ken by Ryan Gosling. The song reached great heights upon its release and recently, epic behind-the-scenes (BTS) footage has been released.
Ryan Gosling’s K-energy in BTS Video is Impressive
The Barbie fans’ obsession has been fed into the behind-the-scenes of the movie’s cast, precisely the Kens rehearsing for I’m Just Ken‘s music video. The footage sees Gosling shooting the scenes with his fellow Ken actors under Greta Gerwig’s direction.
In the video, the construction of the set is shown along with the Kens moving in slow motion as Ryan Gosling sings in front of them. Director Gerwig is seen bursting into laughter as Gosling lets go of his white fur coat. Another scene sees the sweatpants-clad Crazy, Stupid, Love actor rehearse the Greased Lightning-inspired dream sequence with a female dancer who is replaced in the music video by Simu Liu.
The dance fight scene was shot away from the set. The behind-the-scenes video sees the crew throwing tennis balls towards the cast for the iconic battle scene. Other scenes show the other Kens laughing or recording their background vocals for the Ryan Gosling number.
Ryan Gosling has Given a Swoon-Worthy Performance in Barbie
Ryan Gosling starred as Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s Barbie. Judging from the praise his performance got from critics and fans, it is safe to say that he was the Ken that everyone wanted to see. However, it is to be noted that in addition to his phenomenal acting, he also sang the ballad I’m Just Ken which earned a well-deserved spot on the Billboard charts.
Surprisingly, Gosling was Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig’s first and only choice for Ken. In an interview with Extra TV, Robbie revealed that the La La Land actor was their “dream choice” for the role. Gerwig had even written down his name next to Ken’s character as her personal actor choice.
Initially, Gosling’s casting as Ken was criticized by some fans and critics but the actor effectively shut them down stating no one ever cared about Ken. Robbie and Gerwig were right for choosing the Blade Runner actor as he has proven to be the most perfect Ken Barbie could ever find.
