The Final Decision was an important episode. It paved the way for the battle between the X-Men and the Sentinels and their creator.

On the other hand, the Sentinel took Kelly to Bolivar Trask. He was the leader of the Sentinel program and Master Mold was the AI controlling the Sentinels. After that, Master Mold disclosed his intentions for world dominance by replacing world leaders’ brains with computers.
The X-Men extracted the information from Gambit, which led them to Henry Peter Gyrich, who in turn disclosed that Master Mold had deceived them. They enter the Sentinel base. The others started fighting the robots while Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Professor X proceeded to get into the base.
And by the time, Trask realized he had been fooled by Master Mold as he was playing against him. Kelly was then saved by Cyclops and Jean. Xavier, with the Blackbird, packed up with explosives, went head-on with Master Mold. Magneto used his power to keep the plane safe until the final moment, and both of them successfully escaped the impact.
The episode finally showed Kelly admitting that mutants could help humans. On the other hand, Mr. Sinister was observing them through a hidden camera, and his actions hinted at the next chapter of the story. This episode played a key role not only in the war against Sentinels but also in helping the relationship between humans and mutants flourish.
