Dave Bautista is an incredible wrestler and actor as well, but it wasn’t easy for the actor to make his acting journey smooth. The Dune star dealt with scary issues with the government which undeniably made his path to stardom a hard nut to crack.
How Dave Bautista’s Tax Trouble Was Turned Around
Dave Bautista before getting the role of Drax the Destroyer, was dealing with major tax issues, personal struggles, and difficulties in fulfilling the actor’s aspirations. One specific challenge that emerged large in his life was the daunting issues With the IRS, which proved to be a major setback in Bautista’s life. Many will assume that it was Dave Bautista’s role in Zack Snyder‘s movie Army of the Dead that made things go easy for the actor, but it wasn’t. David Bautista spoke with WWE about his role as Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy and revealed how it turned his career. Bautista stated:
“And then when I got [cast], not only because I was broke, [everything changed]. When I say broke, my house was foreclosed, I had nothing, man. I sold all my stuff. I sold everything that I made from [when] I was wrestling. I had issues with the IRS. I was just lost in everything.”
The Blade Runner 2049 star revealed that it wasn’t Snyder’s movie that paved his way in Hollywood but a James Gunn movie. Dave Bautista’s role as Drax the Destroyer was a game-changer launching him to stardom. Even after playing the main protagonist in The Army of the Dead, Bautista’s career did not prosper as it did after the James Gunn movie. Soon after playing Drax the Destroyer, roles started pouring in which was something Bautista never expected.
Dave Bautista Received More Acting Opportunities After Playing Drax
Dave Bautista is iconically known by his ring name Batista had a roller coaster ride in his career. The actor and wrestler started late in wrestling in his 30s and it was in 2005 when Bautista turned thirty-six years old and won his first championship in WrestleMania which was WWE’s most essential and biggest show that year. Before his wrestling and acting career, the Spectre actor faced financial crunches and personal struggles, but despite the problems, Bautista made his path into the movie world.
After stepping into the acting world, Bautista landed on television roles but those did not earn him a name in the industry as the projects he gathered were minor. Dave Bautista then did a cameo in a TV show Smallville which the actor viewed as it was something he got from his wrestling connections that eventually made Bautista think about leaving the acting world, but the My Spy star gave it another try. The Guardians of the Galaxy star achieved newfound success in his career as he got cast in major movies like Avengers: Endgame, Dune, Spectre, and The Army of the Dead.
