Before Anya Taylor-Joy Took Over the Role, Spider-Man Star Emma Stone Almost Starred With Rumored Superman: Legacy Actor And Ralph Fiennes In $73 Movie
Over the past decade, Anya Taylor-Joy has given numerous praiseworthy performances for which she has won accolades like a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She rose to fame for her portrayal of the chess prodigy Beth Harmon in the Netflix period drama series The Queen’s Gambit.
Recently, Anya Taylor-Joy’s name has been making splashes on the internet as the actress got married to American musician Malcolm McRae in Venice. In 2022, she starred in the horror-thriller The Menu which also starred Ralph Fiennes in a lead role. However, what’s interesting here is that Anya Taylor-Joy was not the actress slated to star in the movie until later.

Anya-Taylor Joy Replaced Emma Stone In The Menu
In early 2019, it was announced that the Mark Mylod-directed movie The Menu was going to star Emma Stone alongside Ralph Fiennes. Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone has won millions of hearts with her performances in blockbusters like The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, La La Land, Easy A, among others.
The movie’s production kept getting delayed. Consequently, Emma Stone moved on to work on other projects and by July 2021, Anya Taylor-Joy was finalized as the lead actress. Both actresses are great in their own right, it was just destiny that landed Taylor-Joy in the psychological dark thriller.

The Menu follows a young woman named Margot who goes to dine at a restaurant on an isolated island along with her partner Tyler (portrayed by Nicholas Hoult). Things turn dark at the restaurant when Margot realizes that something is not right in the restaurant’s kitchen where the celebrity chef Julian Slowik leads the staff. Upon its release in November 2022, the movie grossed $79.6 million and garnered positive reviews from critics who even labeled it as one of the best horror thrillers in the past few years.
Anya Taylor-Joy Is A Fan Of Harry Potter Movies
Growing up reading the Harry Potter books or watching the films is probably something that nearly every kid in the world can relate to. It is a universal truth at this point so, it is not all that surprising that the Last Night in Soho actress is a fan of those books and movies.
Luckily, Anya Taylor-Joy got the chance to work with actor Ralph Fiennes who portray the infamous dark lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. In an interview with USA Today, she revealed the movie that she likes the most from the franchise, saying:
“It’s controversial, but I would say (“Deathly Hallows”) “Part 1.” God, I’m such a nerd. But it’s the most time you get to have with them as people. There’s big, long stretches of trying to understand what each of these characters is going through, rather than it just being action, action, action. That said, I definitely felt like my childhood ended when Cedric Diggory died (in “Goblet of Fire”).
It must have been a dream come true moment for Taylor-Joy to have gotten the chance to star alongside one of the actors of that franchise. She let the actor know about her love for the Harry Potter franchise at the end of The Menu‘s filming.
