Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been friends for a long time. From being co-writers to opening their own production company, Damon and Affleck have witnessed success together. Although after Ben Affleck’s association with Jennifer Lopez, his friendship with Damon came to a halt, it is no shocker that the duo previously shared bank accounts.
Addressing their long-term friendship, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, stated the reason behind their unusual financial arrangements. Appearing on the latest episode of The Bill Simmons Podcast, the duo explained their high school friendship and the way they reached success together. No matter how weird it sounds, evidently, their plan helped them to gain stardom together.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s friendship goes beyond love and trust. Friends since high school, the duo achieved success at a young age. Being globally acclaimed at the age of 25, for co-writing and starring in Good Will Hunting, Affleck and Damon never looked back. Winning the Oscar in 1998, for their movie, made all difference. The duo is currently, extremely successful Hollywood personalities who own production companies and have recently launched their movie Air.
Appearing on The Bill Simmons Podcast, to promote their recent movie, the duo explained their long-term friendship, and trust and informed their audience about their unusual financial arrangements. Despite Ben Affleck‘s wife Jennifer Lopez reportedly forbidding him from staying in touch with Damon, the duo revealed their long-term friendship and their shared bank accounts.
Ben Affleck And Matt Damon Explain Their Finances
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, appeared on The Bill Simmons Podcast, to promote their newly released movie Air. Thus, taking the initiative Matt Damon explained the subject, “It was unusual, but we needed the money for auditions. It was a weird thing, in retrospect.” And Affleck added further, “We were going to help each other and be there for each other.”
In an attempt of explaining how their shared bank accounts would work, the Gone Girl actor mentioned, “It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together’.” Although it seems unusual, the shared accounts actually worked well for the duo, except for the time they tried using the money to get a beer.
“You were allowed to go to New York with the money. You were allowed to take out $10 and get quarters and go to the arcade and play video games…eventually, we were allowed to try to buy beer, which never f***ing worked.” Affleck and Damon mentioned.
Adding money to their account which helped them get through auditions, Damon mentioned, how his role in Geronimo: An American Legend boosted their account. “As long as one of us had money, we knew the power wasn’t going to get shut off. After Geronimo, I probably had 35 grand in the bank. I was like, ‘we’re good for a year.‘” the Interstellar actor shared. Evidently, things worked well for the two, and they both secured great roles in Hollywood. Although Jennifer Lopez tried interfering in their friendship, things still seem quite normal for Affleck and Damon.
