Beyoncé Exits the 2018 Film A Star is Born

With the studio working on a remake of A Star is Born, many actors were considered to be the lead in the film. The names included Hollywood superstars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Johnny Depp, Tom Cruise, and Will Smith. Although nothing was confirmed, Will Smith was reportedly on top due to his musical background.

However, he was already set to star in the biographical sports drama Ali. While the film did not have a fixed name for its male lead, Beyoncé had been Clint Eastwood’s choice to portray Ally Maine. And after leaving the film initially, the singer once again joined the film after Bradley Cooper took over as director.

However, soon it was revealed that the Grammy-winning singer officially left the project and wouldn’t be starring in the film. After this, Lady Gaga joined the cast as Ally Maine alongside Cooper as Jack Maine.

The reason for Beyoncé’s departure was reported to be her busy schedule and the film not having a set start date for its production. However, the producer of the film, Bill Gerber, shared the real reason behind her and Eastwood’s exit during The Hollywood Reporter’s The Producer Roundtable.
