Brad Pitt Called His Ex-Girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow “The Love of His Life” Before His Failed Marriage With Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt is unmistakably one of the most handsome men to have ever walked in Hollywood. And the 90’s heartthrob has also dated some of the most beautiful women in the industry, like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Angelina Jolie. All of these relationships have been a landmark for one reason or the other for the Fury actor.
However, one can never forget the iconic moment from the Golden Globes Award 1996, when the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor called his then-fiancée, Gwyneth Paltrow, the love of his life, in front of a hall crowded with people.
A short-lived fairytale romance
Gwyneth Paltrow really had a fairy-tale romance when she was 22, a flame full of thrill but one that extinguished shortly after, with Brad Pitt who is 8 years her senior. Unlike most couples, these two have remained close friends through the decades that followed. After having separated for over two decades now, earlier this year the two did not shy away from claiming that they still have so much love for each other and are happy to have remained friends despite everything.
Back in 2015, the Iron Man actress was asked for the reason behind splitting up with Pitt, and she confessed, “I think I was a kid and I wasn’t ready. He was too good for me.”
But for the short while that they dated and were engaged, the Fight Club actor made an entire room swoon by acknowledging Paltrow once.
Gwyneth Paltrow was once Brad Pitt’s “angel”
Brad Pitt won the Best Supporting Actor Award at 1996’s Golden Globes Ceremony for his role in 12 Monkeys. It seemed like he had not seen it coming and thus hadn’t prepared an award acceptance speech. Nevertheless, he was joyous and thanked several people for the win and concluded the speech by thanking, “especially, the love o’ my life, my angel, Gwyneth Paltrow.” The camera naturally panned towards the woman of the moment who could not stop blushing and smiling while quite a few ‘awwww’s were heard among the audience.
The two had met in 1994 on the set of David Fincher’s thriller classic, Se7en, and got engaged in 1996 but called it quits soon after, something that Paltrow admitted her dad was devastated about. Paltrow got hitched to Coldplay lead singer, Chris Martin, and then Brad Falchuk, to whom she is still happily married. Whereas Brad Pitt went on to marry Jennifer Aniston, and then Angeline Jolie. As of now, six years after having separated from Jolie, Pitt is embroiled in some ugly legal proceedings and the conclusion is still not in sight.
