Recently, the actor appeared on Josh Horowitz’s podcast Happy, Sad, Confused, Bryan Cranston debunked all the rumors.

Bryan Cranston Shares His Views On Lex Luthor Fancasting

During an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s podcast Happy, Sad, Confused, Bryan Cranston, was asked about whether the Warner Brothers had contacted him for the role of Lex Luthor in the 2016 released Superman. The actor went on to squash the rumors and said-

“It was all fan driven. They’re thinking, ‘Who could play Lex Luthor? Who’s bald who could be menacing? Oh, Walter White! We can get that guy.’ And it’s not very inspiring casting.”

Host Josh Horowitz even went on to ask what was the reason behind his fans casting him or they were looking forward to seeing Walter “Heisenberg” White as Lex Luthor. He pointed out, whether it was his bald head or great mustache that was one of the reasons behind the lazy casting. The Breaking Bad star said-

“Was it all just the laziness of fan casting that they either saw the great mustache or the bald head back in the Heisenberg days that you were always fancasted as Lex Luthor or Jim Gordon? Was there ever any real conversations about playing those live-action characters?”

Bryan Cranston recalled doing the voice-over for Gordon in the 2011 released animated Batman movie, Batman: Year One. He even stated that it is always because of lazy casting, that he ends up becoming a part of these fan casts. He mentioned-

“Not that I know of. I did Jim Gordon in the animated Batman thing. And that was fun. I think it was – I think you’re right, I think it was, like, lazy casting. There should be a, like, ‘lazycasting.com.’ And I was like ‘what is it?’ Because I had a bald head, they go ‘Ah! Lex Luthor!’ It’s like, come on. Let’s think about this a little bit.”

Actor Bryan Cranston debunked all the rumors regarding his portrayal of Lex Luthor or any other comic book character. However, DC’s James Gunn has already laid the foundation of the upcoming movie Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters for which the billion-dollar franchise is looking for a younger and fresher face who can work with the studio in the long run. Actors are being screen tested for the role of Lex Luthor already.

Bryan Cranston On His Retirement Plans

Bryan Cranston,  the 7-year-old actor has achieved so much over the tears in his sixties, that other celebrities can only think about it. According to the Asteroid City actor’s interview with the British GQ, he is looking forward to his retirement from acting and his business projects within a few years. The Malcolm In The Middle actor wants to spend quality time with his wife, Robin Dearden, and keep other stuff at bay.

While talking about his retirement, Bryan Cranston said-

“I want to change the paradigm once again. For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail. She’s been the plus one, she’s been the wife of a celebrity. She’s had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefits from it, but we’re uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it.”

The couple first met on the set of Airwolf in 1986 and started dating each other within a year. They got married in 1989, and are parents to daughter Taylor Dearden. Bryan Cranston revealed his future plans and mentioned that he will shut down his production company, Moonshot Entertainment, and would sell off his portion of the Mezcal company DOS Hombres. He and his wife Dearden will then move to a foreign country like France and settle down in a small village. He looks forward to spending his days brushing up on his culinary skills and language. He said-
