Brie Larson Hasn’t Quit MCU, Says There’s “Still so much inside” Captain Marvel
Despite rumors to the contrary, Academy Award winner Brie Larson has no intention of hanging up her photon blasts and stepping away from the role of Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In a recent interview, Larson expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunities still ahead for Carol Danvers.
Will Brie Larson Have More Captain Marvel Appearances?
Brie Larson explained to ET following the release of The Marvels,
“I think there is still so much inside of Carol,”
which saw her character team up with fellow superheroes Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.
“I feel like getting to be on this team just cracked her open in a way that she hadn’t been and I really loved that for her.”
Larson said she enjoyed showing new dimensions to the usually stoic Captain Marvel.
“You are like, wait, oh of course she would wear Crocs,” the actress laughed, referring to a brief comedic scene in the film. “I just loved her letting the shoulders drop a little bit, and not need to feel like all the responsibility was on her… She is just a great character to continue to grow with. It’s like, as I am growing she is growing.”
While Larson remains tight-lipped about future Captain Marvel projects in the MCU—after all, “I don’t want Marvel to come for me”—she hinted that plans are definitely in the works.
“There is definitely something, to answer your question, that I would want to say, but I am not going to so,” the actress teased.
What’s Next for Captain Marvel?
Larson first joined the MCU’s roster of heroes in 2019’s Captain Marvel, which told the origin story of the part-Kree, part-human pilot-turned-superhero. She went on to play a key role in Avengers: Endgame later that year. Captain Marvel has continued to be one of the MCU’s most powerful protectors of the universe.
The actress is known for her ability to harness cosmic energy to fly at supersonic speeds, project photon blasts, and enhance her strength and durability. But beyond her formidable powers, Carol Danvers is also celebrated for her courage, determination, and resilience.
