“But I was afraid”: John Leguizamo Wanted to Say Steven Seagal “Runs Like a B**ch and Has No Hair” After Seagal Slammed Him into a Brick Wall
After a decade, John Leguizamo and his former co-star Steven Seagal are at odds again. The fact that John Leguizamo dislikes his Executive Decision co-star Steven Seagal is now widely known. Leguizamo stated his strong distaste for Seagal on multiple occasions, most notably in an interview with Clark Collis for Entertainment Weekly.
Controversy: John Leguizamo Vs Steven Seagal
The pair first connected on the set of Executive Decision, a 1996 action film in which Leguizamo, 62, played a sergeant, and Seagal, 70, played a colonel.
John Leguizamo said in an interview with The AV Club about the incident that “the response from Seagal’s publicist was that if he sees me on the red carpet, he’s going to knock me out.” The fight began nearly 27 years ago, and Leguizamo believes it may still be brewing today.
Steven Seagal arrived on the set of their 1996 action film, Executive Decision, and immediately reminded the cast and crew that he was the shoot’s alpha male, despite just having a supporting role, according to John Leguizamo. “I’m in charge,” the performer declared. “Everything I say is the law. Anyone who disagrees?” The ever-sassy Leguizamo responded with a loud laugh, and the small actor immediately felt Steven Seagal’s fury.
“So I started laughing and he slammed me with an aikido elbow against a brick wall and knocked all the air out of me. I dropped to the ground, and all I could say was, ‘Why? Why?’ I really wanted to say he runs like a b**ch and has no hair, but I was afraid. All I could say was, ‘Why?!’ Why’d he slam me against the wall?”
It should come as no surprise that the stand-up comedian harbored grudges. Naturally, he was reluctant to tell Seagal that “He runs like a b**ch,” pointing out that he “hits like a 6-foot-5 dude who has trained his whole life.” He then engaged in the most traditional and honorable form of comedic retaliation: he snorted some more.
He revealed his hatred for Seagal became so strong he would purposely come to set while he was filming death scenes.
John Leguizamo Doesn’t Think Steven Seagal Is A Talented Performer
Steven Seagal is not regarded as a talented performer by John Leguizamo. Leguizamo remarked that Seagal “moves like a baby deer on ice” while speaking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show in 2019 and mimicked his stiff, robotic movements. His remarks elicited laughter and cheers from the audience, indicating that his criticism of Seagal’s acting skills is widespread among both fans and professionals in the field.
Together with Toni Collette, Halle Bush, Adina Porter, Eddie Marsan, and others, John Leguizamo currently appears in the Amazon Prime series The Power. The plot, which is based on the New York Times bestseller, follows a group of teenage girls as they mysteriously acquire a rare ability that enables them to electrocute individuals at command. Raelle Tucker, Sarah Quintrell, and Naomi Alderman came up with the idea for the program.
It’s probably reasonable to assume that Steven Seagal and John Leguizamo won’t be working together on a project any time soon.
