Captain Marvel 2 Director Talks About Balancing Monica, Carol, and Kamala’s Stories
Nia DaCosta, the director of Captain Marvel 2 discusses how she is going to balance characters such as Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan in the sequel.
Director Nia DaCosta highlighted how she is planning to balance the stories of the film’s protagonists. These include Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel.
The Director’s Take On The Making Of The Marvels
During a recent interview, Nia DaCosta was asked about how she is looking forward to allowing Kamala and Monica space in a film that is centered on Carol. To this, DaCosta replied that it is perhaps interesting and something that the makers were thinking about for a while and that is why they have worked a lot to make it happen. She mentioned how bringing every exciting hero in a two-hour movie was challenging. Captain Marvel had a history that is well depicted in her first film, Kamala had her Ms. Marvel show, but Rambeau is the only one who struggled to get a space even in WandaVision.
The director also mentioned how the production team had been working to make the story land a possibility. “How do we honor the part of the story they’re at in terms of the canon, while also within our story making them equal?” she added.
While the plot of the upcoming The Marvels is yet unknown, a rumor claims that it will include Blue Marvel’s debut in the MCU. Brie Larson also mentioned in August this year that the production of the film has begun. On the other hand, actor Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) also referred to the upcoming film to be an epic sequel. The actor echoed that they are in London and having an amazing production time filming The Marvels. She said that she is really excited and can’t wait for the film to hit the theaters.
The Marvels will hit the theaters on February 17, 2023.
