Chad Stahelski Wants to Move Out of Keanu Reeves’ Shadow, Focus on “Different Worlds” Of John Wick
With its high-octane action and a standout performance by Keanu Reeves, John Wick: Chapter 4 lived up to the hype and left fans clamoring for a sequel. Chad Stahelski, the director, has responded favorably following his ambiguous response earlier this month, but there is a catch this time around.
This comes after reports that Lionsgate has reportedly confirmed John Wick: Chapter 5 and stated that it is in development, along with other spin-offs and projects.
Reeves also heightened the excitement among his fans following his recent comeback, and when combined with Stahelski’s direction, it received the anticipated acclaim from the audience. Earlier, the director had stated that he thought the fourth movie effectively ended the series and finished the cycle.

Chad Stahelski recently opened up to Screen Rant regarding his intention to return for John Wick: Chapter 5, which will star Keanu Reeves. However, he shared some different plans for this chapter.

Chad Stahelski Has Terms & Conditions for John Wick: Chapter 5
Chad Stahelski said that he’s willing to direct John Wick: Chapter 5 once again, but the story needs to be interesting. This revelation came after Motion Picture Group Chairman, Joe Drake gave fans new hope when he said that John Wick: Chapter 5 is currently in development.
And now, Stahelski also spoke about the prospect of returning to the world of John Wick as a director during an interview with Screen Rant. He made it clear that he would be willing to take on the director’s chair of either John Wick: Chapter 5 or a number of spin-offs.
As aforementioned, he made it clear that the plot needed to be compelling before he would return for John Wick: Chapter 5 in light of how Chapter 4 ended. To quote him:
“I’m massively in love with the characters and the world that we’ve built. I really love it. Do I want to try other things? Yes, but to be brutally honest with you, if I was smart enough and good enough to come up with a way to continue the story, I would.”
Then again, he made it obvious that the story needed to be appropriate for him, and that’s why he wanted to try to build “different worlds”.
“I would try to do different lighting, I would try to do different worlds. You keep trying. And I think I’d find great interest and satisfaction in that. I just haven’t thought of it yet. So to answer your question, yes. If something pops in and it works, yeah, I’d love to do it. If I could crack any of those stories that we mentioned, I’d love to.”
What Can Viewers Expect From John Wick: Chapter 5?
Chad Stahelski’s willingness to return for John Wick: Chapter 5 is exciting, even though he appeared content with the ending that the lead character received in Chapter 4.
If there is a John Wick: Chapter 5, it won’t be made out of a desperate need to continue the franchise, but rather out of a compelling story. This is because Stahelski is dedicated to telling good stories in the John Wick universe.
Given that Chapter 4 of John Wick ended with Keanu Reeves’ character’s demise, the plot of John Wick: Chapter 5 is still a mystery. It might delve even further into John Wick’s past, examining the times when he was first known as ‘Baba Yaga’ or when he first experienced love.
Knowing what part of John Wick‘s story still needs to be told will be the key to solving this puzzle.
John Wick: Chapter 4 gave the protagonist a deserving end by allowing him to save his friends and, ultimately find peace. Considering Stahelski’s passion for creating these “different worlds” and how John Wick: Chapter 4 ended, bringing John Wick back for Chapter 5 will undoubtedly be a story that needs to be told.
