As reported by Deadline, Wingard said that the development of the third chapter depends upon the success of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire. He said-
“Only time will tell. I think the seductive thing as a filmmaker when you’ve done two movies is to complete it as this trilogy — that’s always what everybody expects.”

“We’ll see. It really depends on how the movie does. I think that there’s a lot of really cool ideas we have [about] where we would go with it. I’m open to it and excited for what the future brings.”

While talking about the upcoming project, Wingard revealed his obsession with monster movies. He said-
“Ever since I was a little kid, I was obsessed with monster movies, and when you watch monster movies as kids your imagination is still kind of interfacing with the film itself. So you understand all the dialogues of the monsters in a way that nay be you wouldn’t as an adult, but I remember trying to retain all these these thoughts and ideas that I had, because when it came time to do my own MonsterVerse movie, especially my second one I knew that I needed to stylistically do something I’d never seen before, which was tell a film from that monster POV that I’d always wanted to see,”
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire marks the reunion of Adam Wingard and Dan Stevens who had collaborated on the action-horror movie The Guest in 2014.
