Chris Pratt Could Join the Ranks of Two MCU Icons If Possible DCU Casting Under James Gunn Becomes a Reality
The rebooted DCU is moving at a swift pace as James Gunn shares regular updates on the production schedule and snippets from behind the scenes. The most recent glimpse we received was of David Corenswet decked up in the Superman suit, which was loved by everyone across the fandom.
We just have to wait and see how Gunn crafts more movies and storylines based on the DC characters and offers a more interesting view of the comic book world. MCU actor Chris Pratt, who played Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, recently claimed that he would love a role in Gunn’s DCU.
Is Chris Pratt Joining the DCU?
Given how James Gunn loves working with his favorite actors and people he has already worked with, it won’t be a big surprise if Chris Pratt makes his DCU debut under Gunn’s leadership. Pratt and Gunn worked together on the incredibly successful Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in the MCU that went on to play a huge role in the culmination of the phases with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Pratt claimed that he would love a role in the DCU and a chance to work with Gunn again. The actor was promoting his upcoming animated feature Garfield, when he claimed,
“Well, it’d probably make more sense that I would be Star-Lord again. But anything is possible, and especially with James over at DC. Maybe there’s something that would be right over there. Maybe both. How about both? Let’s do both. I think it’s 100% both.”
Pratt trusts Gunn’s judgment when it comes to assigning roles and crafting intriguing storylines. Even back in 2023, when the possibility of Pratt joining the DCU came to light, he left the decision to Gunn to choose if the Star-Lord actor was right for the part. Although we don’t know what role Pratt will portray in the rebooted DCU, Pratt being a part of both MCU and DCU at the same time might be possible given Gunn’s knack for getting his way.
Other Major MCU Actors with DCU Roles
Chris Pratt won’t be the only actor to play a major role in the warring MCU and DCU franchises. Previously, Chris Evans, who has portrayed the honorable Captain America in various MCU films, has also played Jake Jensen in the DCU movie The Losers, which is based on a DC Vertigo comic. What’s more, Evans played two Marvel roles, with the other one being Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four movies.
The Merc with a Mouth actor Ryan Reynolds is another actor to hold two primary roles in the MCU and DCU. He plays Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his third movie, Deadpool & Wolverine, releasing this year. Reynolds also played Green Lantern for DCU in 2011. The movie did not do so well at the box office, but at least Reynolds found his wife Blake Lively because of Green Lantern, so it wasn’t all bad.
