On 30 April 2023, the makers announced that the movie has garnered $1 billion in just 26 days after its release.
In North America, the movie earned $490 million, and the movie has garnered $532 million internationally. The movie did $204 million in business in just 5 days after its release. The Super Mario Bros Movie has joined the list of the most successful movies after the Pandemic following Spider-Man: No Way Home, Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, and Avatar: The Way of Water. The film has become the biggest-grossing movie in 2023, both nationally and globally, as well as the largest-grossing film based on a video game.

Chris Pratt said so many hearts and souls were dedicated to the making of The Super Mario Bros Movie
Before the release of the movie, Pratt and the team of Super Mario Bros Movie received a lot of backlash as some people were not happy with the voice casting for the movie. Pratt who was recording for the lead Mario in the movie had to come out and talk about the criticism he was facing before the movie was released.
As Jennifer’s Body actor was surrounded by many controversies in the year 2021, Mario fans thought that the makers could have given this part to someone with no controversies. There was a wave of disappointment when the trailer came out in October last year and it was clear to the fans that Pratt has not tried to talk in an Italian accent like Mario.
While talking about the character Mario’s fans concerts, the Passenger actor said, he understands the concerns that the fans have for the film. He later went ahead and said,
“There’s a passionate fanbase and I’m one of the fans. I get it. Mostly, people don’t want something like this to get screwed up. They’re precious about it. They’re careful.”
Pratt also explained that the movie is not made for a cash grab, the actor said,
“So many hearts and souls and minds dedicated to making sure that didn’t happen.”
