Heartbreaking Contrast Between Michael J. Fox’s Last Performance with Coldplay Versus the Glastonbury One Will Leave Fans Devastated
People danced on their feet at the Glastonbury Festival on June 29 when Coldplay brought Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox to the stage in a wheelchair. They both played hit tracks ‘Humankind’ and ‘Fix You’ to a grand audience of almost 10,000 people.
Even after getting a diagnosis at the young age of 29, Fox continued acting in films until he willingly took retirement in 2020 following the problems of his disease. Not only did Coldplay give tribute to their favorite actor by bringing him to Glastonbury but also gave him credit for all their formation and success.
Michael J. Fox and Coldplay
Coldplay became the first act to headline the Glastonbury Festival for the fifth time and this is the reason why lead singer Chris Martin brought Fox on stage. According to the band, the credit for their success goes to Michael J. Fox.

The relationship between the actor and Coldplay goes beyond just performing on stage together. They both have a much deeper connection because Fox was the reason behind the formation of the British Band, Coldplay! According to sources, Martin thanked Fox and called the actor his hero.
So, thank you to our hero forever, and one of the most amazing people one Earth, Mr. Michael J. Fox, Thank you so much our hero.
During the Glastonbury performance, Martin gave credit to Fox, saying that he is the reason we are all in a band in the first place. He revealed that he was inspired by his film, Back to the Future (a 1985 classic), and its music, especially in the last scene of the film.
Why fans are in tears after the Glastonbury performance
The last time Coldplay and Fox played together at Glastonbury was in 2016. They played Chuck Berry’s Johnny B. Goode then. After almost 8 years, the star was brought to the stage and was seen with his electric guitar in his wheelchair. Fans teared up at seeing their favorite star’s battle with the Parkinson’s Disease. But his sudden appearance and performance with Coldplay is also what left the fans awestruck.
Genuinely don’t get all of the Coldplay hate. Truly one of the great bands over the last 25 years. Incredible live performances. Banger after banger after banger. Difficult to think of other artists who deliver this level of consistency. And never seen Glastonbury look like this. pic.twitter.com/umSQz0o0qv

If you haven’t seen Still (his documentary) on Apple TV+, do so immediately. He’s been through so much, and as someone with chronic illness and pain myself, it was really inspiring. Love seeing him live his best life.

Seeing Fox stand and perform was an amazing sight for his fans in 2016, but the recent unexpected performance left his fans devastated and made them feel bad for the actor. This forms a heartbreaking contrast between both performances, but at the same time, the recent performance was able to make history at Glastonbury.
Although the star retired from acting in 2020, he is willing to come back if the circumstances are right.
