Gunn shared that he’s no longer eligible to legally work for the franchise as he has officially joined the other most successful superhero world.

James Gunn is undeniably one of the most occupied directors currently, as he’s already working on the upcoming Superman: Legacy, the debut film of his rebooted DCU. Following the first entry in the new universe, the director will continue to contribute to the lined-up films of the franchise. However, if you think that along with DCU, James Gunn can also write a movie for MCU, then let us tell you that the co-CEO is legally ineligible for that.

The acclaimed director, along with Peter Safran, is busy restoring the former glory of the DCU. To make sure that his promise of reviving the Universe’s brilliance stays until he’s the co-CEO of the superhero franchise, James Gunn won’t be able to secure any Marvel project. The Suicide Squad maker responded to a fan question on Threads stating that he’s already occupied with other projects and can neither work physically nor legally for Marvel.

Unlike his previous position, which allowed James Gunn to work for both: DC and Marvel, the current scenario is completely contrasting. Gunn is not only handling Superman: Legacy, but he has also written the first and adult animated series Creature Commandos for the rebooted DCU, which will have around seven episodes.

While Legacy‘s cast is almost finalized, the animated series will have actors including Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, and other talented faces.

Following the claims that James Gunn will cast a new face to play the Caped Crusader, a fan asked the filmmaker whether he has plans to welcome another actor for the iconic role, to which Gunn clarified that the rumors are false. He also mentioned not having a script for the Batman movie yet. So, finding another actor doesn’t make sense.
