HBO hit series The Last of Us swept accolades this award season, following the triumphant success and fans’ positive reactions to Pedro Pascal’s show, acclaimed actor Jeffrey Wright opened up about reprising his role as Isaac in the next season.
Wright has expressed hope for the show if the makers bring him the opportunity. The first season was based on the first massive hit video game, featuring Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the leading roles. The Last of Us was highly commended for its engaging storyline that aligns with the fan-favorite game. Now that the second season’s filming will begin soon, Jeffrey Wright is enthusiastic about playing Isaac again.
Jeffrey Wright Talks About Reprising His Role in HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2
While fans are eagerly anticipating the next season of HBO’s TV show The Last of Us, actor Jeffrey Wright known for playing Isaac in the Last of Us Part 2 Video Game, is hopeful about playing Isaac in season 2. Wright secured the role of former marine turned leader of the Washington Liberation Front (WLF) Isaac Dixon, a significant character in the story who transforms into the secondary antagonist of the game.
The video game isn’t just famous for its engaging storyline, but also its visual effects and release on platforms like PS5 and PC. Since Pedro Pascal‘s first season of The Last of Us came out on the streamer, fans couldn’t stop immediately demanding for the next season. But the video game’s narrative is massive and while the filming for season 2 will start, the makers will likely cover most of its story to do justice to the video game and TV adaptation lovers.
According to GamesRadar+, Jeffrey Wright was asked about his potential return as Isaac in The Last of Us season 2, to which the actor didn’t let anything slip, but since he was supposed to answer, Wright said:
“Anything is possible. We shall see.”
Considering Jeffrey Wright’s experience in playing Isaac, it would be easier for the makers to cast him, and since fans are familiar with his character, Wright’s involvement in The Last of Us show can leave a significant impact on the viewers. Isaac is a key figure in the video game, who’s also a part of the Washington Liberation Front, also known as Wolves, who gradually rose to power after the harrowing events in the storyline. However, Jeffrey Wright’s casting in season 2 isn’t confirmed yet, but at least we got to know that the actor is hopeful about it.
Catherine O’Hara Enters the Cast of The Last of Us Through Mysterious Role
Soon after HBO released two episodes of The Last of Us, it was confirmed that the TV show has been renewed and will have another season as well. Now that the second season will begin its filming soon, Home Alone star Catherine O’Hara is entering the apocalyptic world to play a mysterious role. According to Variety, her character hasn’t been revealed yet, but since she’s one of the most talented actresses in the entertainment industry, O’Hara is expected to play a significant part in The Last of Us season 2.

The co-creator of the TV series Craig Mazin, talked about the massive story of the video game’s second part, and to depict those events properly in HBO’s show, it would require more than 2 seasons. According to Collider, he said:
“The story that remains, that continues forth in the work that Naughty Dog’s done on the second game, is a lot. Probably the amount of remaining story would take us more than a season to tell.”
The video game that Naughty Dog created, has a lot to depict. And for the TV adaptation makers, it’s a crucial task to do justice to the story. While Pascal and Ramsey are sure to reprise their roles, other important characters like Gabriel Luna‘s Tommy and his wife, Maria played by Rutina Wesley are expected to come back.
