Did Atlantis Just Declare War Against the World in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
Amongst all the anticipated announcements at the SDCC 2022, fans got the teaser of the much-awaited Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While the trailer showed the aftermath of King T’Challa’s death, It also gave a first look at Namor, the Sub-Mariner. What was more interesting was the expected clash between the Kingdom of Wakanda and Atlantis. The movie hints that Atlantis might declare war against the world in the upcoming sequel of Black Panther. The arrival of Namor and The Atlanteans makes it look like they have some altercation with the humans of the surface world.
Similarities between Atlantis and Wakanda
In Marvel Comics, both the kingdoms, Wakanda and Atlantis have clashed multiple times. Wakanda always feared that their technology and Vibranium would be in the wrong hands. Whereas Atlantis feared that surface dwellers would come and deconsecrate the mythical country. Both the kingdoms have created ruinous effects as their respective monarchs’ egos clashed in a battle. In the trailer, Namor, the Sub-Mariner made its MCU debut along with other Atlanteans who seem to have ties to Mayan cultures.

The first interaction of Black Panther and Namor in comics
King T’Challa and Namor, Prince of Atlantis have led their regions through good times and bad. Both the countries are technologically advanced by their secretiveness and fierce independence and it has led to several clashes. In a publication of Marvel Comics, the first interaction was when Black Panther encountered Namor while investigating some missing Wakandans. The two kings had a fight and the prince of Atlantis, Namor revealed he was looking for traitors to Atlantis who escaped to the surface.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever glimpse a war against The Atlanteans
What is more intriguing to see is the debut of Dominque Thorne’s Riri Williams, who will later play the role of Iron Heart. Along with M’Baku, Ayo, and the Dora Milaje, Riri Williams is also seen gearing up for the battle against The Atlantis in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
