Disney’s Haunted Mansion Ends Up a Catastrophic Flop With Just $33M Box Office Debut
Production giant, Disney has brought their new supernatural horror comedy movie, The Haunted Mansion which has been directed by Justin Simien.
The box office has been crushing a lot of revenues after releasing of popular movies like Barbie, Oppenheimer, and more. In between all of this, we have this movie, The Haunted Mansion which regrettably not bringing any success to the franchise.
Disney’s Haunted Mansion: Pre-Release Expectations
Disney’s new Haunted Mansion comes with a little different plotline which is themed on Disney parks. However, after its release, the movie is not able to meet the pre-release expectations.
As per the box office reports, the new Haunted Mansion movie makes an overall gross of around $33 Million during its initial screening.
The movie was developed with a whopping budget of $157 Million. Right now the director, Justin Simien, and the other cast are put their best to promote their new movies to at least get a return on investment.

From High Hopes to Massive Flop
Compared to a huge production budget and the unique way of making the movie a little bit more interesting, there were high expectations by Disney that the movie will be grossing a great success.
Also, the movies have been rebooted from the previously released Eddie Murphy’s The Haunted Mansion from 2003 and the new Muppets’ Haunted Mansion from 2021.
Although the 2003 movie didn’t receive huge acclaim post its release and in fact, the movie was only able to make 1.7 times its production budget.
Even after facing flops in the past, Disney went ahead and planned to revive the franchise with a new reboot.
Even though many fans slammed Disney’s decision where many people shared their concern over Disney using their production budget for movies, based on “theme-parts” which has already not seen great success in the past.
This is not the first movie from Disney to be flopped but in fact, Disney didn’t see any new success in their other movies like Indiana Jones.
Haunted Mansion – Rating and Reviews
Haunted Mansion is a new movie that stars some famous casting members like LaKeith Stanfield who is famous for portraying movies like The Harder They Fall.
Stanfield appears as the lead star for the character named, Ben Matthias. The other supporting roles who are appearing in the movie include Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Jared Leto.

As far as ratings are concerned, Haunted Mansion has been getting decent reviews whereas on Rotten Tomatoes there it’s been reported with an overall Tomatometer of 41%, whereas, in IMDb rating, the movie has earned around 6.3 out of 10 out of the whole 59 reviews by the fans.
