His personal dimension to the plea said, “Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now.” He added, “Do not travel to Maui. Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply.”

The devastation from wildfires would have a lasting impact on the Maui resources, island-wide. Momoa highlighted that the community needs time for healing, grieving, and restoration, requesting people to postpone their travel plans.

Further, Lahaina’s historic town, a significant cultural landmark, was reduced to ashes. It prompted a state of emergency declaration and a federal disaster declaration by the President of the United States, Joe Biden. As for the fire, it’s still burning, but that’s mostly contained.
