Patti LuPone isn’t happy that Kim Kardashian is joining the American Horror Story cast, and she’s not afraid to express it.

American Horror Story’s future has been a topic of discussion for the past few years due to the show’s declining viewership and departure of its cast members. When it first appeared in 2011, critics hailed it as a revolution in the horror genre, fusing s*x, gore, and camp to find the ideal balance for their audience.

However, as the quality of the show declined after landing a Netflix deal, Ryan Murphy decided to let AHS play itself out while devising new tactics to try to engage its audience. They have chosen gimmicks instead of their once-prized cast, for instance, replacing them with influencers.

The most recent attempt at this is to cast Kim Kardashian.

Nevertheless, Hollywood icon and prolific actress, Patti LuPone criticized the mother of four and her role in American Horror Story during her recent appearance to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

Why Was Kim Kardashian Criticized By Patti LuPone For Role In American Horror Story?

When Andy Cohen questioned Patti LuPone about her feelings regarding Kim Kardashian‘s casting in Season 12 of American Horror Story, the American actress and singer was frank in her response. During the show’s segment, she responded to the Watch What Happens Live host by saying, “Do! They! Give a Damn?” She asked, gritting her teeth. “Why? She’s taking a role away …”

Before LuPone could finish his sentence, Cohen asked, “… from actors.” The 78-year-old actor-singer replied,

“Excuse me, excuse me, Kim. You know, what are you doing with your life? Don’t get on the stage, Mrs. Worthington.”

Mrs. Worthington’s remark alludes to the 1935 song Mrs. Worthington by playwright and songwriter, Nol Coward.

The aim of the song was to convince zealous parents to refrain from pushing their young children to pursue careers as Hollywood celebrities.

The long-running anthology series received some exciting new casting on April 10. Ryan Murphy, the show’s creator revealed that Kim Kardashian would co-star with Emma Roberts.

Can American Horror Story Be Saved by Kim Kardashian’s Star Power?

The first few seasons explored haunted houses, asylums plagued by aliens, and covens of witches fighting for supremacy. These were modern takes on traditional forms of horror. When it came to original ideas, compelling stories, and superb writing, each of these seasons stood out on its own. Unfortunately, there is a limit to how far you can take things before you have to start using old concepts.

Although Ryan Murphy swore he would never have a vampire season, it still had a fair amount of ghosts as a mainstay but added a new element of vampires. As a result, the series’ viewership hit a new low after the final episode of Season 11.

When you consider all this, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Murphy is using star casting once again to try to win back his fan base. And hence, the addition of Kim Kardashian to this anthology series could be yet another plan.

Well, she has acted before also; though she is best known for her roles on Keeping Up With the Kardashians and her family’s recent reality series, The Kardashians. Moreover, the mother of four has performed in films like Disaster Movie, Beyond the Break, and CSI: NY.
