The original 1984 Ghostbusters movie has an amazing story behind its cast as the stars that we saw on-screen and lauded weren’t the initial plan of the writer. Dan Aykroyd, while crafting the supernatural comedy film imagined the impeccable stars Eddie Murphy and John Belushi in the leading tripartite including himself. When the script reached Murphy, it failed to appeal to the actor, and couldn’t accept the role. According to WGTC, Aykroyd stated:

“I wrote it for Eddie Murphy. It was me, John Belushi, and Eddie Murphy. We were supposed to be the original Ghostbusters.”

However, the case with John Belushi was different the actor tragically passed away in 1982 due to the drug addiction while the script was in works. So, if Belushi hadn’t died, he might have agreed to be in the leading trio. The role of Dr. Peter Vekman who is the most liked character was successfully helmed by Bill Murray who became a famous star through Ghostbusters known for its engaging storyline followed by its sequel in 1989. Even the theme song of the 1984 Ghostbusters became a classic hit and received immense recognition.
