Netflix’s upcoming Matilda The Musical is set to feature Emma Thompson playing the role of Miss Trunchbull and the audiences can’t seem to get over it.

When the first trailer for the film debuted last night, a herd of viewers echoed the same thing.

“I didn’t even recognize her!” Well, thanks to the unbelievable power of Hollywood costuming and makeup. However, the cast and crew on the set of Matilda gave us a shoutout for rendering Thompson this very way.

As this happens to be a musical, there might be a lot more surprises. Fans were quite happy to see Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel) as Miss Honey in the feature as well. Here are a few of the best jokes about the upcoming Miss Trunchbull here.

Here is a new synopsis for Matilda: “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical tells the story of an extraordinary girl, with a vivid imagination, who dares to take a stand to change her story – with Alisha Weir as Matilda. An inspirational musical tale of an extraordinary girl who discovers her superpower and summons the remarkable courage, against all odds, to help others change their stories, whilst also taking charge of her own destiny. Standing up for what’s right, she’s met with miraculous results.”

The ‘Cruella’ and ‘Love Actually’ actress is unrecognizable as Miss Trunchbull in the first look for ‘Matilda the Musical.’ Matthew Warchus helms the Netflix film based on the children’s book, Roald Dahl’s ‘Matilda,’ which is also adapted into a Tony-winning musical. “Matilda the Musical” will debut on Netflix in December.

When asked about other West End stars she would be sharing the screen with, Beck said, “It’s funny, I’ve been amazingly lucky to have worked with all 3 of them! Alice I met 100 years ago in Les Miserables in the West end and since then she’s gone on to become a musical theatre megastar! Scott Davies, I met in the wings at Phantom of the Opera as he was about to go on as emergency cover Phantom to my Christine, what an incredibly exciting show that was! We went on to do 100s of performances together.”

“Lastly, Rob Houchen is the person I’ve known the shortest but has quickly become one of my favorite people,” she added.
