With the recent insider reports that both the Marvel Disney+ series Moon Knight and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law could return for second seasons, fan reactions contrast sharply between the two 2022 shows. Moon Knight has emerged as a breakout hit, while She-Hulk has notably struggled to achieve the same popularity and acclaim.

Why was Moon Knight such a creative success in comparison to She-Hulk?

According to sources, Moon Knight and She-Hulk both are getting a season 2. Moon Knight premiered in March 2022 as the MCU’s first streaming series focused on an intense psychological origin story. Oscar Isaac stars as Marc Spector, a museum gift shop worker with dissociative identity disorder who becomes the avatar for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.

Praised as a genre-bending character study, the thriller series’ darker tone and Isaac’s riveting dual performances made it a standout entry in the MCU’s Phase 4 slate. Unlike other recent MCU fare, it tells a self-contained story free of direct connections to past movies or shows.

In contrast, She-Hulk has struggled to make audiences truly invest in Jen Walters outside of her Hulk alter ego. For the more comedically-toned legal series to win over skeptical viewers in a potential Season 2, it may need some serious retooling.

On social media, fans are celebrating with great enthusiasm at the reports of a potential second season for Moon Knight. Viewers connected deeply with Oscar Isaac’s performance and cannot wait to see more of Marc Spector on his complex psychological journey.

In contrast, fan response to a second season of She-Hulk trends more skeptical, if not outright dismissive. After struggling to win over viewers in Season 1, the general sentiment is that She-Hulk would need major changes to justify a return. While some faithful fans remain open-minded to improvements, the wider public buzz for She-Hulk is decidedly more muted.

Better writing, improved CGI, deeper themes, and meaningful character development could help ground Jennifer’s story. Can She-Hulk aim higher and find its purpose? Only time will tell, but Marvel seems intent on giving it another shot…whether fans want it or not.
