The recently released Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore will now be available for streaming on HBO Max sooner than we had thought.

Announced by HBO Max, the most recent installment in the Fantastic Beasts series will be arriving on the streaming service starting May 30. The movie was released in some select theaters on April 8 before it opened globally on April 15. Previously, Warner Bros had agreed to a 45-day theatrical window for all its movies scheduled to hit the theaters this year, which has resumed with the streaming date of Fantastic Beasts 3.

The Secrets of Dumbledore showcases the backstory of the beloved Professor Albus Dumbledore (played by Jude Law), who vows to stop the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (now played by Mads Mikkelsen) from exercising control of the world by using his magical powers against the non-wizards aka the muggles.

While knowing that he cannot stop Grindelwald alone, Dumbledore seeks the help of magizoologist Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne) and assembled a team of wizards and witches to ruin the evil plans of the dark wizard. As Newt and his team go on various dangerous missions, Law’s Albus Dumbledore must find the right way to face his once-loved companion.

Earlier, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen took over the villainous Gellert Grindelwald’s role from actor Johnny Depp in the third part of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, The Secrets of Dumbledore.

Here’s what he revealed about it:

While talking to THR, Mikkelsen, who is not a stranger to playing villainous roles, revealed that he did not want to copy Johnny Depp but also never wished to build a bridge between both the performances in order to not confound the audience. His version of Grindelwald is written very differently from Depp’s and the differences go way beyond the corporeal.

Mikkelsen revealed about that decision “was very deliberate. Everybody knows why [the actors changed]. The entire world knows why. It would almost be like an Easter egg to reality to point out we swapped actors. Hopefully, we drag them in with the first scene and from there they accept this world.”

The Danish actor even clarified his comment about wishing he would have talked to Johnny Depp before taking up the villainous role from him. “I wasn’t like, ‘Oh please let me talk to him. It would have been great to touch bases, ‘clean the room’ in a sense. Maybe I’ll see him in the future,” he said.

Directed by David Yates, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore from a screenplay by Steve Kloves and J.K. Rowling. The movie is in theaters now and will stream on HBO Max from May 30.
