Fast & Furious Franchise May Be in More Trouble as Studio Brings in ‘The Tomorrow War’ Writer To Patch Up an Already-Completed Script
Fast & Furious is one of the highly acclaimed franchises in the entertainment world, which seems to be in a tight spot. It all started after Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider spilled the tea about the franchise’s upcoming film and the arrival of a new writer.
According to the Insider’s newsletter, an upcoming Fast and Furious movie is being written by Zach Dean, but it’s unclear whether he’s reworking the drafts by Oren Uziel and Christina Hodson for Fast X: Part 2, or working on a completely new project. The writer is known for his work in The Tomorrow War, and as stated by Sneider, is set to work on a Fast and Furious movie as well.

Fast & Furious movies aren’t just famous for having an incredible star-studded cast and stunning scenes, but also for crafting engaging narratives in each installment. However, it’s currently unclear which film Dean is crafting, but Sneider did say that he might be replacing Oren Uziel and Christina Hodson, who have already completed the script. That means, there is a high chance that Zach is reworking the drafts made by Uziel and Hodson. The insider also mentioned that the previous drafts haven’t been discarded, but may require some improvement.

There has been speculation about a spinoff featuring Jason Momoa‘s Dante and Dwayne Johnson‘s Hobbs. But Jeff Sneider mentioned that Hobbs and Reyes might not be the official title of the upcoming film. However, the studios are likely prioritizing the spinoff featuring Johnson, over the next main installment.
Fast & Furious Spinoff Might Wrap Up Dante Reyes’ Storyline
A new report from the insider (via Comicbook.com) has emerged, hinting that the spinoff featuring Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs might end the story of Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes. This is a possibility as Fast X concluded with several cliffhangers. There were initial plans to continue the Fast X events in the next main installment, but since there are hints of potential changes, the spinoff might work things out.
It is reported that Fast 11 is adopting a “back-to-basics” approach with a low budget, and bringing a new villain perfectly fits this new approach. However, before they initiate the new ideas, there has to be a project that can provide a clean slate for Fast 11, and the spinoff placed between Fast X and Fast 11 might solve every issue. So, concluding Dante’s storyline with the spinoff might open room for a new villain in Fast 11.
Fast X is available on Prime Video.
