The Fast and Furious franchise has grown over time and has gotten bigger and better with each film. The series was planned to be a trilogy, but it has added more than ten movies by now, making it one of the longest-running franchises. The first film came out in 2001, titled The Fast and the Furious. The inspiration for the film came from a 1998 Vibe magazine article titled Racer X, which detailed an illegal street racing circuit in New York City.
The Fast and Furious franchise has transitioned into blockbuster action films about heists and spies with each movie. And Vin Diesel has been an essential part of the franchise. He has played the lead role of Dominic Toretto for over two decades. Besides Diesel, Dwayne Johnson is also a name connected to the series. The base for the new villain in Fast X is set on Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs. The new movie in the franchise has some shocking surprises for the audience.
Fast X Post Credit Scene Sees the Return of Dwayne Johnson
Vin Diesel fought many villains in the long run of the Fast and Furious franchise. His character, Dominic Toretto, inevitably engages to save his loved ones whenever a potential threat lurks on them. In Fast X, Diesel’s character faces the most dangerous antagonist in the action series. Dante Reyes, a cold-blooded baddie played by Jason Momoa, will be the most powerful threat to Toretto.
To fans’ surprise, the 10th installment in the franchise has a special post-credit scene that shows the return of Dwayne Johnson to the franchise. Johnson’s character Luke Hobbs has a special appearance in the post-credit scene of Fast X, making fans curious about his return to the 11th installment.
Hobbs is the reason behind the vengeance of Reyes. In Fast Five, Hobbs pulled the trigger and killed Hernan Reyes, the father of the new terrifying villain. While the son is on a revenge spree against Dom and his family, it was obvious he will dig up the main killer of his father.
The public feud between the 55-year-old actor and Johnson made the return of Hoobs a bit difficult, but he is finally here, sparking rumors of The Rock reprising his role in the Fast X sequel, set to release in 2025.

The Reason Behind the Return of Dwayne Johnson to Vin Diesel’s Franchise
The WWE star had previously shared his desire not to return to the Fast and Furious franchise. The two renowned actors- Johnson and Diesel have had a major feud going on since 2017, after The Fate of the Furious. They have even gone public about their dispute, with The Rock calling the franchise lead manipulative.
Despite all this, the 51-year-old returned to the action franchise. Director Louis Leterrier weighed in on roping in Johnson for the Fast X post-credit scene. He told The Hollywood Reporter,
“The peace treaty … I kind of did. We all did. Ultimately, the movie did. I didn’t know Dwayne personally, but we reached out to Dwayne and Dwayne’s team. We sort of looked at each other from across the room and winked a few months back, saying, “We should work together.”
He also invited the former professional wrestler to see the film first before talking to him about his return.
Leterrier added,
“It was very smooth, and frankly, as a fan, I could not conceive continuing the franchise without either Dwayne or Gal Gadot. This franchise was built by actors and characters. The set pieces are wonderful. They keep you entertained.”
With the shocking post-credit scene, there is a hope that The Rock may reprise his role in the 11th installment of the franchise and help Dom defeat the most dangerous villain of the franchise.
Fast X is available in theaters worldwide.
