Christopher Eccleston recalls an incident of an A-list actress accusing him of ‘copping a feel’

In a recent interview with The Independent, Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston who is appearing in season four of True Detective alongside Jodie Foster, recalled an incident where an a-list actress accused him of ‘copping a feel’ while they were filming a s*x scene. He said,

“I did a s*x scene with an A-list actress-not Nicole Kidman, who was brilliantᅳand she implied, in front of the crew that I was copping a feel. Because she didn’t like me.”

Although the actor did not name the actress, he expressed his gratitude that the accusations from her surfaced before the #MeToo movement gained attention across the world. In addition, the Doctor Who actor also thanked his stars for the fact that horrifying incident that took before film producer Harvey Weinstein was accused by women. The producer is currently in prison, serving his punishment after he was found guilty.

“I was fortunate that happened to me before the Harvey Weinstein stuff came to light, so I wasn’t put in the stocks for it. But I’ve never felt more betrayed by a fellow actor than I did that day.”

Eccleston’s statement hinted that despite him being innocent, he could have faced severe consequences if the actress had accused him of ‘copping a feel’ at the time when the #MeToo movement was at its peak.

Christopher Eccleston describes the incident as an ‘abuse of power’

The English actor mentioned in the interview that he would have rather put his hands in a food blender than copping a feel of the actress. It is not quite clear if people on the set reacted to her accusations or came in recuse of the actor, but he described the whole incident as an ‘abuse of power’.

Christopher Eccleston admitted that it was his second time working with an intimacy coordinator while working on True Detective. But working with an intimacy coordinator made him wonder if things would have been the same way it was with the unnamed actress.

“I don’t think that would have happened with an intimacy coordinator on set. I could have been accused of all manner of things…that’s about what passes between actor with trust and the abuse of it.”
