Lively has been battering in a legal spat with Baldoni after she filed a lawsuit accusing him of s*xual misconduct. The actor denied all the allegations made against him. While she already was in a chaotic situation, a new wave of criticism hit her, pointing at her pattern of bullying others.

Blake Lively’s disgusting joke on Leighton Meester

Blake Lively gained massive popularity after featuring in the CW series Gossip Girl as Serena Van der Woodsen. In the series, Leighton Meester starred as Blair Waldorf. Even though they worked together for the show, some reports suggested they never had a good relationship on-set. However, this video clip from a panel that has been resurfacing all over the media could hint at the reason.

In the video, Lively poked fun at Meester about the fact that she was born in a prison. She could be heard commenting “Some of us started in a cage” and waved her direction at Meester. When her statement didn’t pull any cheer from the audience, the It Ends With Us actress further added, “Come on, it was a joke! Lord have mercy.”

As the video has reappeared on the internet, social media users have been slamming the actress for her bullying nature. X (previously known as Twitter) has been flooded with their reactions. Here’s what they have been posting:

People came in support of Meester and applauded the actress for putting up with Lively’s insensitive joke. But is it a mere rumor or is there truth behind her “joke”?

What is the actual truth behind the joke?

Leighton Meester was born in 1986 to Connie and Doug. Meester’s mother, Connie, was arrested in 1985 for smuggling 1,200-pound shipments of marijuana out of Jamaica in 1983 and for being a part of the smuggle-ring of her then-boyfriend, Doug (Meester’s father). Meester was born in a prison hospital, and post-delivery, Connie had to serve her imprisonment term for sixteen months. Meester was raised by her grandmother.

The actress spent her childhood in Florida where she eventually united with her parents once again but then she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion in acting. In a US Weekly report (via New York Magazine), Connie talked about her daughter and said, “She’s very gifted, she’s very talented, she’s very intelligent. I love her dearly.”

Well, Leighton Meester surely turned the joke on her into a positive outcome. While Lively tried to make fun of her childhood situation, she rose above her troubles and petty discussions, and made a name for herself in the industry. She is now happily married to Adam Brody.
