Being one of the world’s finest filmmakers, many might wonder what type of phone Nolan uses, but according to Blunt, he has nothing technological!
Emily Blunt’s portrayal of Katherine or Kitty Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s last year’s summer blockbuster was widely praised. Among the star-studded cast, the actress was one of the significant characters who contributed to the film’s strong performance. Recently Blunt revealed that while she was being offered the film, she had to call Nolan’s wife because he doesn’t have a mobile phone.
Emily Blunt Reveals Christopher Nolan Doesn’t Have Anything Technological
Christopher Nolan has a history of crafting massive hit projects with his own distinct style. The director’s take on the biography of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, and his association with the Manhattan Project during World War II, emerged as a standout this award season. Oppenheimer features a star-studded cast with Cillian Murphy playing the lead role. The movie was released last year’s summer and made enough headlines about the epic performance and narrative of the film.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Emily Blunt talked about her casting in Nolan’s film, and how she learned that an incredible director like him has nothing technological around him. The Jungle Cruise star said:
“I was called. it’s like you get a back call from Chris Nolan. Although he doesn’t have a phone, he doesn’t have anything Technology anywhere near him so his wife will sort of call you.”
Emily Blunt explained that she had to call Nolan’s wife to discuss her role in Oppenheimer. Her expressions and revelation depicted that even the Pain Hustlers star was astonished. The actress then commended the director’s “magnificent brain” and called him the “most understated” person she has ever met.

After learning that Christopher Nolan isn’t interested in mobile phones, many might wonder about the reason why he’s so distant from using them. The director himself shared the reason behind not having a smartphone as it can become a source of distraction while he’s working on a new project or focusing on the scripts of his movies. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan said:
“My kids would probably say I’m a complete Luddite. My personal choice is about how involved I get. It’s about the level of distraction. If I’m generating my material and writing my own scripts, being on a smartphone all day wouldn’t be very useful for me.”
However, the Interstellar maker does have a flip phone and only uses it “from time to time”. Nolan told People that he’s “easily distractible” and utilizes his free time to think about creative ideas. The Tenet star generally prefers connecting with people through landlines.
