The American actress has not only secured the Critics Choice Award for her portrayal of Sydney Adamu in The Bear but has also taken home a Primetime Emmy and a Golden Globe. During her acceptance speech, Edebiri thanked her parents and also mentioned the long-standing joke about Barry Keoghan’s film.

This year’s award season is going incredibly well, and Ayo Edebiri made sure she’s flaunting her versatility. The American actress gave an interview last year, where she playfully talked in an Irish accent and mentioned playing a donkey in Barry Keoghan‘s The Banshees of Inisherin. Since then Edebiri’s humorous accent and jokes have flooded the internet with notable memes and GIFs.

During the Critics Choice Awards event, when Ayo Edebiri was honored with her deserved award, she expressed gratitude to her Barbadian and Nigerian parents, the makers of The Bear, its cast and how could she forget Ireland. The Bottoms star said “Ireland in many ways” while she was feeling incredible about her win. Edebiri’s expertise in playing along with jokes and creating a lighthearted environment during the event is quite evident in her versatility and talents.

The craze didn’t seem to have stopped as fans have been quick to talk about Ayo Eldebiri’s wins this award season, by playfully labeling her as a proud Irish actress. The Big Mouth star opened up about learning the Irish accent in an interview with Letterboxd at SXSW in March 2023, and now that she has slayed on red carpets and won almost three awards, fans have made notable memes surrounding last year’s joke.

The actress is also being commended for her red-carpet appearances and dressing sense. Ayo Edebiri previously opened up about her fashion journey and shared how she transformed from simple clothes to understanding fashion in the right way. In an interview with W Magazine, Edebiri said:

“Within the past year, my world has opened up so much in terms of opportunities and events, so I’ve definitely have been thinking a lot more about what I wear and how I wear it.”

Talking about the significance of fashion and how it has helped the Dickinson star, she added:

 “I realize how much fashion can help you tell stories, really. As an actress, as a storyteller, that’s so crucial. Being able to mold and create new stories for yourself, new journeys, it’s very freeing.”

Ayo Edebiri shared that since she learned and sought more about fashion in recent years, her journey has been “explorative and more conceptual”. The actress is active on her Instagram account and fans can see Edebiri’s stunning red carpet looks through her social media.
