“He doesn’t want to get sucked back”: Tom Cruise Burns All Bridges With Will Smith After Actor Foolishly Tried to Defend Jada Smith’s Honor by Slapping Chris Rock Over Harmless Joke
Will Smith’s Slapgate happened a year ago, and many people are prepared to move on. But apparently, not Tom Cruise! According to reports, Cruise, formerly Smith’s best friend, has stopped replying to the actor because he isn’t ready to jeopardize his reputation in the wake of the King Richard actor’s infamous Oscars incident. Smith, 53, has reportedly been attempting to get in touch with Cruise in order to work together on a new project that would help advance his career, according to sources close to the performers.
Has Will Smith Approached Tom Cruise?
According to sources, Smith has been frantically attempting to contact the Mission: Impossible star to work together on a project that might help revive his waning career after the slap.
“Will has approached Tom several times, trying to reconnect and see if they can hang out and brainstorm on some projects together. A solid movie with Tom would guarantee Will’s comeback, or so he thinks.”
“Will Smith has even offered to fly to London if that’s more convenient, but Tom Cruise isn’t biting and doesn’t even write him back.” Despite having sympathy for Smith, he is not going to “be stupid enough to put his neck on the line and be dragged down by association.”
However, the insider said this is not only about Smith as Cruise “is still very wary of any Hollywood friendships.”
“He likes his reclusive lifestyle in the United Kingdom. He doesn’t want to get sucked back into the Hollywood scene — especially by way of Will Smith.“
“He’s still kryptonite,” the source said of Tom Cruise.

Smith’s Surprising Bond With Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise and Will Smith are two of the most well-known actors currently working in Hollywood. The same arguments may be used to dispute their standing among the greatest performers to appear in major motion pictures. They both rank among the top 10 actors in terms of the number of tickets sold at the box office in the US since the 1960s.
Will Smith and Tom Cruise once found time to get down. According to Smith, who took the bold move of publicly defending Cruise’s vocal Scientology, Smith said,
“When I sit and talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the greatest spirits that I’ve ever met — someone who is committed to making the world better.“
Will Smith said that the Mission Impossible actor surprised him when they first met in person. Smith, a rising young star, was accustomed to the rivalry that pervaded his peers frequently. However, Smith found Cruise to be a breath of fresh air.
Smith was more than taken aback by Cruise’s counsel when he said that the two men were not in a competitive relationship. “That blew my mind because that is not how this business works at all,” Smith said.
However, it is now known that ever since that Oscar’s slap incident, Cruise has rejected any type of contact from Smith, regardless of how close their connection was prior to it.
One can only hope that Cruise and Smith will soon be friendly toward one another and collaborate once more.
What Is Cruise’s Next Project?
The two Mission: Impossible films that will be released in 2023 and 2024 will usher Tom Cruise into a new phase of his career. Mission: Impossible 7 will be released in US theaters on July 14, 2023, while Mission: Impossible 8 will be shown on June 28, 2024.
Christopher McQuarrie, Cruise’s longstanding partner, intimated that the two of them were working on a couple of projects that were very different, and now some information about what those projects might be has surfaced. According to Deadline, the team is working on three different projects. One is a unique musical that they will create with song and dance as a star vehicle for Cruise. Additionally, they are developing a new original action movie with franchise potential while being concentrated on Les Grossman.
The latter is of course the foul-mouthed agent to the star’s character who appeared briefly in the 2008 movie, Tropic Thunder.
We’re all in favor of this as a means of reintroducing Cruise to the wider range of parts he used to play earlier in his career. Additionally, Cruise is working on a space movie with Doug Liman that will be shot in orbit with the help of SpaceX. We’ll bring you updates on any of these projects just as soon as we hear them.
