Carl Lentz Fired On The Grounds Of Moral Failures
The international megachurch Hillsong had been trending for a long time following its association with celebrities like Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas, Chris Pratt, and even Kendall Jenner. The celebrity pastor Carl Lentz even garnered flashy headlines for attracting celebrities to the church. However, following certain issues, the celebrity churchman Lentz, who baptized Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber in a bathtub, was fired from his position.
Reportedly finding Justin Bieber’s friend, Carl Lentz down with alleged “breaches of trust” and “moral failures”, the ministry took the decision of firing Lentz. However, a day after the decision was revealed, the celebrity pastor took to his social media to confess being unfaithful in his marriage. “I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life, and held accountable for that,” Lentz wrote.
Following his dismissal, Carl Lentz confessed, “I now begin a journey of rebuilding trust with my wife, Laura, and my children and taking real time to work on and heal my own life”. Further, the news got over to Religion News Service, who informed Hillsong via email. Therefore, the founding pastors took over Lentz’s termination personally.
Carl Lentz Breaks His Silence On His Affair
Following Carl Lentz’s dismissal in November 2020, Discovery+ came up with a three-part docuseries Hillsong: A Megachurch Exposed in March 2022 to reveal the not so holy history of the religious institution. However, to everybody’s surprise, even Carl Lentz is ready with a bombshell docuseries to expose the Church’s history of s*xual abuse towards children and inappropriate behavior towards women.
After more than 2 years of being dismissed from his position as a celebrity pastor, Carl Lentz broke his silence on his affair. A great friend and ex-pastor of Justin Bieber, Lentz promised to reveal his unfaithfulness and church scandals in his new documentary. Enjoying his success and the rapidly growing congregation for nearly 10 years, Lentz broke the news of cheating on his wife with Brooklyn jewelry designer Ranin Karim for five months.
According to a short clip from Lentz’s upcoming FX and Vanity Fair docuseries The Secrets of Hillsong, the ex-pastor was heard confessing, “I had some major lies”. Adding to Lentz’s confession, his wife Laura revealed, “He said I had been unfaithful.”. Taking a break from social media to find peace the couple worked on the “challenging road” of gaining trust.
Lentz and his wife are thus ready to release the docuseries to showcase the rise and fall of Carl Lentz as well as to expose the scandals, abuses, and cover-ups of the Church.
The Secrets of Hillsong is scheduled to premiere on May 19th on FX.
