Katherine Ryan calls out Justin Timberlake for shading Britney Spears
Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears dated from 1998 to 2002 and it is no hidden fact that Spears has claimed that Timberlake cheated on her multiple times. The pop icon who penned down everything in her memoir The Woman In Me, goes on to share how Timberlake’s attempt to not only recreate their breakup in Cry Me A River but also make her look like the villain in their relationship damaged her reputation.
She wrote in her memoir via NME,
“When Justin began making his first solo album, he started being very standoffish with me. I think that was because he decided to use me as ammunition for his record and so it made it awkward for him to be around me, staring at him with all that affection and devotion. He ended our relationship by text message.”
Spears alleged in her memoir that the media also played a part in damaging her reputation as they portrayed her as the harlot who had broken the heart of America’s golden boy when the singer was allegedly happily running around Hollywood.
Justin Timberlake who had been silent on the claims recently performed the song at the opening of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas. He commented, ‘meaning no disrespect’ before he went on to perform the song. This did not sit right with fans including Katherine Ryan who called him out on her podcast; Telling Everybody Everything. She said via Metro UK,
“So Justin Timberlake popped his grubby little eel face out from the rock he previously crawled behind to perform at the opening of new Las Vegas hotspot, Fontainebleau, smugly offering up quote, ‘No disrespect’ before performing ‘Cry Me A River’ and we know that at the time there was loads of press around the song being about Britney Spears cheating on him.”
Ryan continued,
“It was supposedly about their breakup and Justin Timberlake at that time could do no wrong, and I really have no problem with him but this is a slimy f***king thing to say. He just wasn’t this nice guy that we thought he was.”
Ryan also mentioned the infamous Timberlake-Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction incident at the Super Bowl half-time show in 2004. During the performance, Timberlake exposed Jackson’s nipple, which caused great controversy, and damaged Jackson’s reputation and career while Timberlake suffered no consequences.
Britney Spears seemingly responds to Justin Timberlake’s ‘no disrespect’ comment
Spears has her way of responding to the people who try to shade her and her former beau wasn’t going to get it any other way. Their feud has been regarded as one of the most iconic and memorable celebrity feuds and maybe it doesn’t seem to end. The pop icon decided to take to her social media to address the comment from her former partner as she wrote,
“Psss I never mentioned how I beat him in basketball and he would cry. No disrespect.”
Ryan continued to talk about the former couple with her listeners and asked;
“How has Justin not thoroughly got the hint that Britney Spears has receipts and most of the fandom is on her side? Does he think he’s just going to get away with this and Britney will be placed back under conservatorship? Is Justin Timberlake delusional?”
Ryan lastly added ‘no disrespect’ but the song Cry Me A River now just seems to be loaded with poison.
The Toxic singer’s memoir goes on to explore her 13-year-long conservatorship detailing the ups and downs of being a pop icon, her career, and how her life has been as a mother of two young boys.
