“He would kick my butt any day of the week”: Riley Gaines Silences Kelley Robinson After She Claims Male Tennis Stars Can’t Beat Serena Williams
In the never-ending debate about the inclusion of trans women in Women’s sports competitions, recently former swimming competitor Riley Gaines slammed a controversial view on it. While attending the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on LGBTQ+ rights and protection on 21st June, the debate continued.
Last year after losing to trans athlete Lia Thoma in the NCAA swimming competition, Gaines spoke out against trans women being allowed to compete in women’s sports competition. She pointed out, what she believed was the unfair biological advantage that trans women had over biological females.
With that, in the recent hearing, Gaines did not hold herself back to snap at Kelly Robinson’s claim that Serena Williams could beat any male player in her field of sport.
Former Swimming Competitor Riley Gains Shuts Down Claim Regarding Serena Williams Beating Any Male Player in Tennis
Continuing last year’s event, former competitive swimmer, Riley Gaines stood her ground against the inclusion of trans athletes in women’s sports competitions. Since losing against Lia Thomas, a trans woman, at the NCAA women’s championship last year, Gaines has been vocal about her view on the whole thing.
She has actively been speaking out against it and recently at the Senate hearing on LGBTQ+ civil rights, Gaines testified for the same. The athlete also gave an emotional opening statement at the hearing along with the issues that the women players experienced having a biological male among them.
Her main point of argument was that trans women athletes had biological advantages over biological females. However, Kelly Robinson a Human Rights Campaign member had a different view on the topic. Robinson. Claimed that Serena Williams (a biological female) could easily take on male players saying,
“There’s been this news article about men that think they can beat Serena Williams in tennis,”
She added that it was not the case in reality as according to her Williams was “stronger than them.” This statement was met with immediate pushback by Gaines who shut down the claims saying,
“Both Serena and Venus lost to the 203rd ranked male tennis player.”
Other than this, the former 12-time All-American swimmer also detailed feeling uncomfortable in the locker room while changing in the presence of a biological male.

A Brief Look At Riley Gaines and Lia Thomas Trans Debate
Last year, a University of Kentucky student Riley Gaines participated in the NCAA women’s championship in swimming. And among the many of her competitors included Lia Thomas, a trans woman athlete. The two were tied for fifth place in the 200 freestyle final which Thomas ended up winning. After this defeat, Gaines came and spoke out against the inclusion of trans women in competitions meant for women only.
This received mixed responses as the political scenario around the topic is still highly divided. Since then, she has stood her ground and even hit quickly Thomas for complaining about trans kids and opportunities in the world.
