It’s quite thrilling to even think of Henry Cavill playing 007 and captivating the audiences just the way he did with some of his notable roles in DC’s Superman, Enola Holmes, and The Witcher. So, it’s fair for the fans to anticipate his involvement in the James Bond franchise after news came out that his auditions for the role had been amazing. However, producer Barbara Broccoli who’s one of the main elements in the project might not consider Cavill after what she commented while promoting the launch of 007: Road to a Million (via Yahoo)

“We’re totally open to casting a non-star. But acting is a very specialized profession, and if somebody has to carry a movie and have the range of requirements [for Bond] in terms of physicality, it’s not going to be someone who has never done it before. It would be sort of irresponsible to do that. But we’d certainly be open to a non-star.”

This might be an indication of the decreased chances of Henry Cavill playing the spy, especially after his new movie Argylle is set to showcase him as the titular spy alongside Dua Lipa. The producer’s comments are quite evident that she might consider a new face who can handle and possess the qualities required to thrill the audience as the iconic 007.

Well, another note-worthy piece of information for fans is that Henry Cavill almost played the British Secret Service agent. Director Martin Campbell told Express UK that the Enola Holmes star, despite slaying his audition, lost out on the role as he was quite young. Cavill auditioned for Casino Royale in which the role was eventually given to the incredible Daniel Craig who’s sent to arrest a bomb-maker in Madagascar. Campbell said:

“He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape… very handsome, very chiseled. He just looked a little young at that time back then.”

Explaining that if Craig didn’t exist, the role of 007 would have successfully landed under Henry Cavill’s name whose audition was quite impressive. The Black Adam star is undeniably charming and one of the many fan-favorite actors out of the running for James Bond. So, if he is not going to portray the spy, the makers are going to disappoint a huge fanbase. However, fans can always hope for a favorable outcome.
