How Did Mark Sheehan Die – The Script Guitarist and Co-Founder Passes Away at Just 46
The Script’s guitarist Mark Sheehan recently passed away on April 14th, 2023, and fans were undoubtedly shocked to learn this. However, the band announced the news and asked everyone to give Sheehan’s near and dear ones privacy at this time. Before his death, Sheehan skipped his band’s U.S. tour though that hadn’t been due to any health issues.
But it turns out he was battling an illness for some time now. However, it is not clear as to what exactly was the reason, as there is no information disclosing anything about the sudden incident. Sheehan had only been 46, therefore it does seem like he was taken away a bit too soon.
Mark Sheehan Passes Away at 46
It is saddening news for fans all over the world. The Script guitarist and co-founder, Mark Sheehan took his last breath on Friday 14 April. Following that, the band updated their fans via their official Instagram page writing,
“Much loved husband, father, brother, bandmate, and friend Mark Sheehan passed away today in hospital after a brief illness,”
However, there is no further information about what the “illness” is. Since the shocking news, many have expressed their sadness and sent condolences. One commented,
“Many many many hugs and loves to families and friends. Shaking while typing this. Rest in peace legend”
Similarly, many others chimed in with their comments under the post. Apart from that, the band also requested fans to respect the band and Sheehan’s family as they mourn the loss. A thing for concern occurred last year when the late Sheehan skipped the Band’s U.S. tour.
But later it came to light that health issues were not the reason for the absence. But the late guitarist had been dealing with family commitments at the time. Therefore to be with his wife and children, Sheehan had skipped the U.S. leg of their world tour.

Mark Sheehan was 46 when he passed away. As for his career, the guitarist was once a part of another team before creating the alternative rock band The Script along with Danny O’ Donoghue. The latter was also in the same band as the two were very close friends since childhood. For 5 years straight from 1996 to 2001, Sheehan had been a member of the band called Mytown.
Since co-founding The Script in 2001, he has remained its guitarist till his death. Unquestionably, the group is one of the most successful in its genre. They are signed under the Sony Label Group in London.
