Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling plays the lead in Barbie

Margot Robbie is set to play Barbie in the upcoming film. The film was announced by Warner Bros. and Mattel in 2019. The Oscar-nominated actress will also coproduce the movie under her company, LuckyChap Entertainment, alongside husband Tom Ackerley and producer Josey McNamara. Starring alongside her as Ken is Ryan Gosling.

The film follows Barbie, who travels outside of Barbieland to seek true happiness in the real world. In her adventure, her boyfriend Ken follows her and they soon discover how gender and patriarchal archetypes rule society.

The much-anticipated film Barbie is directed by Greta Gerwig and is slated to release on the 21st of July, 2023.
