Logan not being part of the X-Men from the get-go is canon. The comic book series first launched in 1963, and Wolverine did not join the heroes until the 1975 revamp.
As per the insider info, The reboot will most likely feature the five mutants that were part of the X-Men at the very start; which include Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Angel, and Iceman led by Professor X.
What Plans Does Marvel have for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine?
A series of reports caused a lot of chatter on the subject of Deadpool 3 being the last of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. All of these were eventually reported to be false rumors. It raises the aforementioned question of Logan’s future in the MCU.
As of now Deadpool 3 will reportedly leave Wolverine on Earth-616, making the clawed mutant a key part of future projects like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Given both of these projects are years away, it is possible that there will be a miniseries based on the clawed mutant. Possibly showing his story before he joined the X-Men.
Possibilities are many and the wait is certainly long. For the time being, fans can enjoy Hugh Jackman gracing the screen in Deadpool 3, which is set to hit theatres on May 3, 2024.
