“I beg you”: Shakira Cries For Help As She is Concerned For the Safety of Her Kids
As Shakira left Barcelona to embark on her new life in Miami, her concerns about her privacy grew to the point that she felt the need to make a statement on her social media pages. The world-famous singer put out a sincere request to all journalists and media outlets there is, to respect her children’s right to privacy. Shakira shares two children with her ex Gerard Pique, ages 8 and 10.
And being the kids of a celebrity couple is not an easy job. Thus, they have been hounded at every step since the begging of time. Be it going to school or vacationing with their family, every ordinary task has been made out of the ordinary by the world’s inhumane attitude towards them.
Therefore, just before starting a new chapter of her life, Shakira put out this public service announcement to ensure the safety of her kids in an unknown land.
Shakira begs for some privacy
Shakira shared a long message on all her social media handles, urging people to help her to protect her children’s right to privacy. She stated that she understands, what it takes to be a public figure and what sacrifices she has to make but refuses to comply when it comes to her children. According to Shakira, her kids did not sign up for the job willingly, and thus should not deserve to be treated this way by the world.
She then politely asks the journalists and paparazzi to be a little sensitive toward the situation both of her kids are in. The past year has been a rollercoaster for them especially, following Shakira and Gerard Pique’s separation. And now the move to the United States of America, totally uprooting their lives to settle in a place entirely unknown to them just keeps on adding to it. The statement read,
“In this moment of changes in my life as a public figure, it’s understandable that a permanent curiosity exists on behalf of the press around me and my family,–However, my children, Milan and Sasha, have lived through a difficult year, suffering an incessant siege and relentless persecution by the paparazzi and the media in Barcelona.”
She then proceeds to practically beg all the media outlets to stop chasing after her kids just to exploit them further against their will. She continued,
“I beg you to refrain from following them in and out of school, waiting for them at our front door, and following them to their extracurricular activities as has happened every day in Barcelona in an effort to capture photos and get better ratings,”
They should be able to have a normal life, just like millions of others. Her kids are her ultimate priority and thus she is ready to do anything and everything to protect them from the cruel world.
Shakira is ready to start a new life in Miami
The past year was a lot for the singer Shakira and therefore she kept making headlines. Her split from her partner of over a decade, footballer Gerard Pique gained a huge amount of attention. Allgededy Pique cheated on Shakira and her mother-in-law was in on the plan. Therefore to let her frustration out, she released a breakup anthem for all women out there encouraging them to live their lives on their own terms. The song also not-so-subtlety called out her ex and his current girlfriend which caused quite a stir all over the internet. Her song became an instant chartbuster.
Therefore, Barcelona had too many bitter memories associated with it and to start a new life, she had to start everything from scratch. She said,
“I established myself in Barcelona to give my kids stability, the same one we are now looking for in another corner of the world alongside my family, friends and the sea,—Today we start a new chapter in search of their happiness.”
Although she is grateful for all the things Barcelona has gifted her, she is also very excited to start a new life in Miami along with her kids. She thanked all her Spanish supporters for being with her through thick and thin and asked for their blessings at the beginning of a new journey.
