The Spider-Verse is expanding. After fans got a taste of watching the three live-action Spider-Men together in No Way Home and seeing the entire horde of Spider-people from different universes in the latest Spider-Verse animated movie, everyone now wants to see the two worlds collide. The upcoming instalment to widen the world of web-slinging heroes is Madame Web, which will be released in February 2024.

After being the centre of the smashing Fifty Shades franchise, Dakota Johnson is working on more diverse and complex roles. She wishes to create a new niche for herself in the industry and work in versatile movies that showcase her incredible range. This year, she will be seen headlining the Sony Pictures Madame Web flick, based on Marvel characters.

While Madame Web is not a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is set in Sony’s Spider-Man universe which featured Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men. Playing the role of Cassandra Webb, Johnson plays a psychic hero in the movie who can see into the future and know what’s about to happen. Along with her, we will also see Sydney Sweeney’s Julia Carpenter and Isabel Merced’s Anya Corazon in Madame Web.

Seems like Sony is capitalizing on Johnson’s Fifty Shades legacy as a new promo for the Madame Web movie just dropped. It has been making the rounds on social media due to Johnson’s flirtatious and suggestive behavior in the video. Given her fan following who admire her beauty and find her extremely attractive, the movie is reportedly banking on the star’s fans to fill the theatres.

Johnson speaks to the camera directly and says that she can see into the future in reality too and knows that people will come to the theatres to watch her upcoming superhero extravaganza. “In fact, I think you’re gonna see it twice,” she says. Fans are going gaga over this promo and seem to be changing their minds about the movie. With a slow reaction at first, Madame Web is expected to gradually pick up pace and generate buzz before its release in February.

Sony’s Upcoming Superhero Adventures

Tom Holland's Spider-Man can collide with MCU
Tom Hardy in Venom

2024 appears to be a smashing year for Sony Pictures with two more superhero movies slated to come out later this year. The third instalment of Venom is already under production with Tom Hardy back in the symbiote world. The first two movies did exceptionally well at the box office and Venom was in fact last seen in the post-credit scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Hence, the looming possibility of Venom in the MCU has excited fans beyond expectations.

Another movie in Sony’s superhero universe is Kraven The Hunter which features Aaron-Taylor Johnson. The antagonist character was also seen in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 game which also amassed popular support. Given this character has not been seen in a movie to date, it will be exciting to see a talented actor like Taylor Johnson take up the iconic comic book character.
