Gareth Edwards Opened Up About Rogue One
In a recent interview, Gareth Edwards, the director of 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was seen talking about the success of the movie. Talking about the movie and its famous Darth Vader scene, the director refused to take credit for it.
During his discussion with Uproxx, Edwards said that whenever he watches Rogue One: A Star Wars Story he feels that the right person is not given enough credit. Further talking about this, the director said that everything good about the movie can be traced back to George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars.
Talking about this to Uproxx, Edwards said,
“Everything that’s great about that movie, you can pretty much trace back to George. And even the Darth Vader scene that lots of people talk about? I can’t take credit for it. Because it’s all George.”
Not only this, the director also said that despite the condition of the studio right now, he wouldn’t complain about any of it and if he would get the chance to do it all again, he wouldn’t doubt it for a second.
Gareth Edwards Says The Creator Gave Him Freedom to Be Creative
While talking about his upcoming movie The Creator, Gareth Edwards has revealed that filming this movie provided him with a lot of creative freedom. For years, Edwards has worked on different franchises like Godzilla and Star Wars, but while he enjoyed working on these films, he indeed missed having creative freedom.
Talking about his upcoming release, Edwards said,
“Playing in that sandbox is just phenomenal. But I also missed the amount of creative freedom you get from an independent film. This was really an experiment and an approach of how to combine the best of both worlds”.
Further talking about this, Edwards also revealed that for filming of The Creator, he and his team went around the actual world rather than just designing a world and filming it all against the green screen.
The Creator is all set to release on 29 September 2023.
