“I can’t wait to see it”: Not His Own but Tom Holland Declares $375M Movie as The “best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made”
Tom Holland, who began portraying Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016 with Captain America: Civil War, impressed the audience with his performance and quickly established himself as one of the fan-favorite Spider-Man. The British actor has received a lot of praise for his commitment to and love for the role, as well as for his excellent on-screen chemistry with the other characters.
The Crowded Room on Apple TV+ recently featured the actor in the character of Danny Sullivan. The show drew mixed reviews from critics, but the crowd commended the actor for playing the part to absolute perfection. Even if the show received negative reviews, Holland stated in an interview that he was still planning to promote it to his best because people worked hard on the show, which showcased how much the actor loves his work and respects it.
Tom Holland reveals his favorite Spider-Man movie
Actor Tom Holland, during an interview with Variety ahead of his Apple TV+ show The Crowded Room, was asked about his favorite Spider-Man, and the actor named Sony’s 2018 animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as his favorite. He said,
“I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made. I am so proud of everyone involved. Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her as her date. I couldn’t go because I’m here working. But I’m incredibly proud of them. I’m excited about the second one. I’m sure it will live up to every expectation, and I can’t wait to see it.”
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not only Holland’s favorite Spider-Man movie but also a large part of the audience loves it. Not only did the movie go ahead to introduce Miles Morales to the world of cinema, but the movie also stepped up a notch to mark a new era for animation and attempted to share a different style of story from the ones that had been made till then. The movie went on to win Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Award.
Tom Holland on taking a break from work after The Crowded Room
The British actor who appeared in an intense role in The Crowded Room, explained in June to Extra TV that filming the show was hard on him. He explained,
“It was a tough time, for sure. We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then, on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set just added that extra level of pressure. I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was.”
The actor noted that he is no stranger to hard work and he has always lived by the idea that hard work is good work and he really enjoys it, but then the show did break him. Holland said,
“There did come a time where it was sort of like: ‘I need to have a break’.” I am excited to see how it turns out, and I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain.”
Tom Holland hesitant about playing Spider-Man in the fourth movie
The actor, when asked about his future in the franchise, said that maybe it’s time for him to move on and he has to consider Peter Parker into account as well because he is an important part of his life. He said during an interview with GQ in 2021
“If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong. I don’t know what the future of Spider-Man looks like. I don’t know whether I’m going to be a part of it. Spider-Man will always live on in me, and I know that [producer] Amy [Pascal] and the studio are keen to figure out what the next chapter of Spider-Man looks like. If that happens to be with me, then that’s very exciting but, you know, if it’s time for me to walk away, then I’ll do so proudly.”
Talking about the fourth installment of the Spider-Man movie, the producer, Amy Pascal, said that they are in the process of developing the movie, but due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strike, production has been halted as they are all being supportive of the cast and crew members, noting that when everything gets settled down, they will get started.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is streaming on Prime Video.
