“I don’t care..”: Pique Shows No Remorse After Cheating on Shakira, Says He is Happy While the Singer Goes Through a Dark Period in her Life
Gerard Pique Bernabeu is a former professional football player from Spain who played for Barcelona and the Spanish national team. After starting his football career in the youth academy of FC Barcelona, he moved to Manchester United in 2004 where he played for four years before returning to Barcelona in 2008. He earned a reputation as one of the top defenders globally, thanks to his remarkable skills on the field, which have led to multiple achievements in his career. These include four UEFA Champions League titles, eight La Liga championships, and a FIFA World Cup win with Spain in 2010.
Furthermore, he is also recognized for his exceptional leadership abilities, which led to his appointment as the captain of FC Barcelona in 2018. Apart from his football career, he is also active in entrepreneurship, with involvement in various business ventures. Notably, he founded Kosmos Holding, an investment group, and played a crucial role in creating the Davis Cup Finals tennis tournament.
Gerard Pique Places His happiness Above Shakira’s Suffering
While his accomplishments with Kosmos Holding are certainly noteworthy, he does not diminish the impact of his infidelity on his relationship with Shakira. During a recent interview with El País, he was asked several questions about the ongoing Pique-Shakira saga. The questions primarily focused on his relationship with her and the events that have occurred over the past few months, including her release of four new songs.
Despite this, he appears to be unfazed by the situation, as he mentioned in a recent interview. “I am very happy. There have been changes in my life and I have been able to maintain my happiness.” Indirectly, he said in the interview that he is currently pursuing his desired path and intends to remain true to himself at all times.
He reportedly decided to face all those haters who criticized him thanks to the 45-year-old singer. In response to that, he said,
“The people I care about and the people I love are the ones who know me,” further adding, “I don’t care about anyone else.”
He places very little importance on the opinions of others and has a single rule by which he lives.
“The day I die, I will look back and hope that I have always done what I wanted to do. I want to be true to myself. I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image.”
Conversely, the former player defended himself and referred to the role his children played in the breakup with his ex-beau. He added,
“Everyone has a responsibility to try to do what is best for their children.”
Despite his explanation, he has not been exempt from criticism. Following the interview, several people have claimed that his behavior, such as walking with Clara or making public jests about Shakira, suggests a lack of concern for his children.
The Infamous Relationship That Went Up In Flames
One of the most high-profile couples in the entertainment industry, Shakira and 36-year-old, Gerard Pique were in a well-known and long-term relationship that lasted for over a decade. The couple first crossed paths while filming the music video for Shakira’s World Cup anthem, Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) in 2010, and they quickly became a favorite among fans.
Recalling their initial encounter, she shared with CBS in 2020 how they first crossed paths.
“I wasn’t a soccer fan, so I didn’t know who he was,” When I saw the video, I was like, ‘Hmm, that one’s kind of cute.’And then someone decided to introduce us.”
During a different interview, Piqué mentioned that their relationship originated from his message to her when they were together in South Africa. In a 2016 interview with Spain’s TV3, he stated,
“She was already there because she sang in the opening ceremony, and I asked her what the weather was like. It is the typical stupid question, it got to the point where I told her we would have to get to the World Cup final to see her again — she was singing at the final.”
Their relationship was not without its challenges, however, the couple managed to make their relationship work and went on to have two children together, Milan and Sasha. Nonetheless, rumors of Pique’s infidelity started circulating and ultimately led to their separation. The couple’s breakup in 2022 was unexpected for many as they were considered one of the strongest and most stable couples in the entertainment industry.
