Talking about his experience Gibson who is known for his iconic films like Braveheart and Lethal Weapon said that he has grown immune to public humiliation after his 2006 scandal.
Mel Gibson Says He Has Grown Immune to Public Humiliation
After battling with alcoholism, scandal, and the collapse of his 28 years of marriage, Mel Gibson has been said to have grown immune to public humiliation. Talking about his 2006 public debacle in Hollywood, Gibson has shown nothing but indifference to public opinion and a fearless approach to his life.
Talking about the same Gibson said that one of the biggest fears of any person is public humiliation and after the 2006 incident and all that followed it, he has grown out of this fear. He also stated that all that has happened has made him stronger and it doesn’t kill him anymore.
Mel Gibson said “If you ask most people what is their number fear, what do you think it is? Most people’s number one fear is public humiliation, Okay. I don’t give a Fu*k anymore, I am not afraid of them. Because I’ve had plenty. And now it’s just time for me to say I am tough because what does not kill you makes you stronger”.
This comment of Gibson has the internet stunned as they find his behavior unapologetic and ignorant.
What Was Mel Gibson’s 2006’s Debacle All About?
Mel Gibson had a scandalous event back in 2006 which changed his life forever. As per the police reports Gibson was found on Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway for speeding and making anti-Semitic comments which stained his public image forever. Not only this just after five days of this incident, Gibson was later arrested on the charges of misdemeanor drunken driving.
This incident of Gibson especially his anti-Semitic remarks resulted in him facing a lot of backlash from his fans. Although Gibson publicly apologized for his behavior and also worked on his drinking habits.
In an interview with Variety, back in 2016. Gibson called this an unfortunate accident. Recalling all of it, Gibson continued “I was loaded and angry and arrested. I was recorded illegally by an unscrupulous police officer who was never prosecuted for that crime. And then it was made public by him for profit, and by members of — we’ll call it the press. So, not fair. I guess as who I am, I’m not allowed to have a nervous breakdown, ever.”
Talking about this further the actor/ director said that he has never discriminated against anyone and he is not the man that he has been portrayed. Despite this many fans and viewers still don’t support Mel Gibson or his work to date.
