Is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Making A Comeback Into The Boxing Ring?
With WWE SummerSlam 2023, around the corner, rumors of the wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson making an appearance in the event has taken over the tinsel town and the internet. Dwayne Johnson’s cousin Roman Reigns would be seen taking over Jey Uso, his nephew in one of the main events of the prestigious event on August 5. For a long time, the WWE Federation had wanted to organize an inter-generation match between Roman Reigns and his cousin Dwayne Johnson.
One of the significant names from the wrestling world, Dave Meltzer, has addressed the speculations surrounding the association of Dwayne Johnson with one of the biggest events in the world of wrestling. He mentioned-
“I asked if there’s gonna be somebody else, and they said ‘I don’t know, maybe’, so who knows?”
He further continued-
“I don’t know if Dwayne Johnson will come back, but if he’s going to do it for something, it’s gonna be for 50,000 fans in Detroit, which is this show. I don’t know what he’s doing again, I know there’s a strike on and everything, but he’s always doing something.”
According to the statement made by Dave Meltzer, it can be assumed that there is a very small possibility of witnessing the wrestling star Dwayne Johnson during the prestigious event.
Dwayne Johnson Supports The WGA And SAG-AFTRA Strikes
The Fast And Furious actor is not only a good wrestler, actor but also a great human being. Recently, Dwayne Johnson made headlines after standing in support of the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. During an interview with the reputed media outlet Variety, the SAG-AFTRA president Courtney B Vance and the executive director, Cyd Wilson spoke about how the Jumanji actor came forward and even donated a handsome amount to the SAG-Aftra federation.
The president of the SAG-AFTRA union Courtney B Vance revealed-
“We’re alluding to the mental and emotional state of people’s situations, which dovetails us to Dwayne heeding the call that went out and seeing the devastation that happened during COVID and the potential devastation that is happening now. I hope this is not going to be a long period like the COVID situation was, but no matter how long it goes on — even a week is too long for our membership — what Dwayne and others like him are doing is to let the membership know, “We’ve got you. You’re not going to sink.”
The SAG-AFTRA co-heads even pointed out that the handsome donation made by Dwayne Johnson is the largest single donation the union has received from an individual. The actor-turned-producer was lauded for his generous act during one of the toughest times in the world of entertainment. The actor has reportedly donated a seven-figure amount to the SAG-AFTRA union.
