“I don’t want to reveal too much”: Johnny Depp’s Daughter Lily Rose Depp Did Not Talk to ‘The Idol’ Co-star The Weekend While Shooting
Lily Rose Depp starred alongside The Weeknd for her upcoming HBO series, The Idol which focuses mostly on their complex relationship. The series is co-created by The Weeknd himself and has lots of talent from the film industry involved in it. Even before its release, the new musical series is surrounded by multiple controversies, and the official trailer reveals only a bit about the series. However the series does involve dark themes and lots of sex, drugs and violence.
Lily Rose Depp’s Career In The Hollywood
Lily Rose Depp is a talented French-American actress and model who embarked on her acting journey with a minor role in Tusk and then progressed to act in period dramas like The Dancer. The 24-year-old actress has acted in the 2019 movie, The King and is the daughter of famous multi-talented American actor, Johnny Depp and French actress Vanessa Paradis.
Other than acting, Lily Rose Depp is also the brand ambassador of Chanel since 2015 and has been nominated for various prestigious awards. At the age of 15 Depp was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld and announced as the face of Chanel’s iconic fragrance, Chanel No. 5 L’Eau. Having started her career at an early age, Depp has a long way to go and create a mark for herself in the industry with newer opportunities knocking at her doorsteps.
Lily Rose Depp Avoids The Weeknd On The Sets
The first two episodes of HBO’s controversial new series The Idol were premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and has not received great reviews from the critics partly because of its graphical sexual content. In her recent interview with the Entertainment Weekly, Depp shared that “I don’t think anybody went full method – nobody lost their minds. Well, sometimes when Abel would get – I don’t want to reveal too much about where Abel’s character goes, but when he would be in full Tedros mode sometimes, I would steer clear of him, I’d be like, ‘He’s in his zone right now.’”
She then added that despite the movie involving dark themes the set had relaxed atmosphere.
“For something that does, of course, explore darker themes and has some pretty heavy emotional moments to it and everything, the vibe on set was quite lighthearted.”
The series will be released on HBO on June 4th. It is a story of a pop star played by Depp who lost her way and is now trying her best is trying to become greatest and sexiest pop star in America, but in the journey she gets involved in a relationship with a cult leader, Tedros played by The Weeknd.
It was not east for The Weeknd as well to play the character of Tedros and that it also had some real-world consequences on his singing as he had to cut short his Los Angeles concert because he lost his voice.
“I had to take off the Weeknd outfit, put on Tedros’s wig, shoot with Jocelyn, then go back to being the Weeknd,” the singer said. “It was tough to go from one head to another. Then, after the concert, I lost my voice. No voice came out at all. That’s never happened before.”
While the stars have struggled a lot to make the series it will be clear after the release how much the audience loves their work.
